I was due to go into hospital last week to have ovarian cysts removed from both ovaries (had this done about 8 years ago also) and they wanted to check if I had endometriosis. Been having really heavy and painful periods. Didn't think for one second I could get pregnant - but thought I'd better do a test before going into hospital (just in case) and to our surprise I'm pregnant!!! We can't believe it. Think I'm about 5 weeks so very early days but I keep getting pains very similar to ones I was having when "on" so I'm worried something is wrong??
I've read that abdominal pains are normal due to body changes and being this is my first I don't know what to expect or what "normal" is....
Has anyone else had anything like this?? Any advice would be greatly received
Thanks xx

Congratulations and best wishes, pains like you are describing are normal. But if they get excruciating or get some significant amount of bleeding then you need to see the Doctor. The midwife will not see you until after 8 weeks at least. Stay positive and look after yourself. The mind is very powerful, think only positive thoughts that you are going to carry this baby for the next nine months. All the best and happy new year : )
I had pains like that last night alomost like I was going to come on my period, I am 6 weeks 1day. Every twinge or uncomfortable feeling you panic thinking something is wrong dont you. Good luck.
I am nearly 11 weeks now and have gad cramping pain throughout. Went in for 2 scans
1 because of cramps another because of spotting. My cramps were quite painful, so bad i would often be woken up at night!
They have settled down now (hopefully), I to didn't know what to expect and still don't but I do know that getting stressed about them made them far worse.
I had exactly the same pains at 5 weeks, I'm now 29 weeks. I panicked and called the doctors who weren't' concerned as no spotting. Anyway, I kept calling cause it kept hurting and after the third conversation they told me I had a water infection. I understand it's hard not to panic but if it continues I'd say go and do a urine sample. X
