In my life I've already had whooping cough, do I still need the jab?
i'd say definetly yes, as the whooping cough jab is to protect the baby during pregnancy and the 1st weeks of their life, until they have their own jab at 6 weeks. i'm now 36 weeks and had mine a few weeks back. After seeing the outbreak on tv, I'm so glad i've had it. good luck with your new baby
Yes (if you want to of course) This whooping cough jab is to get to the baby. You are protected already but your baby is not. Its because babies have been diagnosed with whooping cough before they get to have the jab and sadly some have died. So this way they will be protected in the first weeks of their life. Hope this helps. All the best x
I've actually had whooping cough while I've been pregnant. I'm 25 weeks now and caught it when i was about 11 weeks pregnant. My midwife said that I didn't need the jab however I asked my doctor as I wanted to double check. My doctor said that the only way whooping cough could be 100% diagnosed was via a test in the lab. He said that whilst he was 99% certain that I had, had whooping cough that there was still that 1% risk that it was something else. He said that it was best to get the jab just in case. Whooping cough was the worst thing I've ever had and left me struggling to breath and I'm in my 30s and the thought of my baby having to cope with it is just too much to think about. For this reason I'm in no doubt about getting the jab. x
Thankyou for yor help
