Yes this is normal, unless you have any immediate concerns. most of your care in the first 12 weeks is getting your paper work, bloods and scan arranged. You need to be on folic acid and adhere to the foods you can't eat when pregnant. There's not much else they can do until then. Just keep yourself healthy and happy.

Thank you for your response, just a bit anxious about it x .

Congratulations firstly!! It varies between GP to GP when they first see you.

I saw my GP at 5 weeks to get it confirmed and inthe system so to speak

And it was a total waste of time! She didn't even do a test.

You're best bet is to call and strange your booking appointment with the midwife,

this will very too, some won't see you until you are 10 weeks (which I think is crazy as you're anxious/worried etc enough and just want some peace of mind).

It's impossible to do, but it's as if you need to put it to the back of you're mind and carry on you're normal life only with a few adjustments; banned foods, alcohol, frolic acid etc.....

I'm just over 6 weeks and it's frustrating that you have medical input yet. Ice loads of questions!! Thankfully have my booking apt Friday!!!

Try not to worry and enjoy being pregnant xxx

Hi, I'm also 5 or 6 weeks, and was also surprised by the lack of initial care. I'm 37 with a blood condition so didn't want to wait and wait... try what I did, I phoned the surgery last Fri pm and they gave me a phone line for local midwifes. I left message, they called back and yesterday - week later - the midwife came to see me. She said it was too early and the 40minute visit was all about paperwork, so don't worry you're not missing anything. Just be very careful this first trimestr and look after yourself. And congratulations!

Congratulations.

I did the same.

I'm 6 weeks and rang my doctors to check what to do. i do Zumba once a week so i wasn't sure if i could still go the doctor phoned me back and said carry on as normal but i tried it and no way - far too hot. The receptionist was great she said to call back after i'm 6 weeks and arrange to see the midwife a few weeks later.

Its really hard because no one at work knows and I've started to get sickness and dizzyness. apparently all normal - great thing about these chat sites. Very scary and time goes slower waiting to book the midwife app.
