Hiya, what do your restless legs feel like... I had some sharp cramping in my legs while pregnant, I did some yoga stretches that seemed to help?

I get restless legs quite often, eating lots of bananas is meant to help.

I am a reflexologist and have been asked to see a pregnant client who has restless leg syndrome - it is not something I have treated before but I think it should be quite effective as one of the other suggestions for it is gently massaging the feet and legs, plus reflexology really helps soothe and calm the nervous system.

Would be interested to know is anyone has already tried reflexology for this, but will report back once I have treated my client and seen how she has responded.

Reflexology is fab in general during pregnancy though!

Hi,

I suffered really badly with this and it was interrupting my sleep - I bought a branded gel for this that I am probably not aloud to mention on here but try doing typing gel jambes legeres (soothing gel for legs) in your search engine and it should come up - it's got menthol, horse chestnut and arnica in it, I used to use it when flying but it is also suitable for expectant Mum's - there are other leg creams/gels out there that contain this mix of ingredients too but I stuck with this one as had used it before, it takes the heaviness and jumpiness out of your legs and is lovely and cooling and soothing. Also, quinine is meant to help so try drinking some tonic water, but if you get a cream or gel with the afore mentioned ingredients in it then your legs will be feeling light as a feather and you wouldn't have to bother with this.

Hope this helps :-)

Hiya - I had this b4 being pregnant but then it got massively worse towards the end of my 2nd trimester. It wasn't leg cramps as such, but my legs twitch un-controlably, interrupt my sleep n just make me feel generally fidgety when I'm sitting down. I saw my gp as it was getting so bad, and really interfering with my hypnobirthing practice. She recommended tonic water (quinine) if it was proper calf cramps, but as it was more like restless legs and twitching with no control, she suggested to eat more bananas, reduce caffeine and then suggested a B12 deficiency, as I had tried those other things. I take pregnancy supplements with b12 in already but am vegetarian and haven't been able to eat much milk since being preggers due to sickness (aparently calcium is linked to b12????). She did a simple blood test, and 3 days later I was given a b12 injection that lasts 3 months as my levels were deficient and its been like a miracle cure! Only get them slightly now maybe once a week, and it eases with cooling leg gel or stretches. May be worth getting it checked out if it's really problematic, as I spoke to a haematologist who said its quite common in pregnancy????

Try hijama or in english cupping, Best thing I have every done. I now have it done every three months but usually every 1-2 months during my pregnancies lol

If you google it you should be able to find info and some Practitioners near you. The only places you can not have it done during your pregnancy are you belly (obv) and your lower back but everywhere else is perfectly fine

I had restless legs for the last 3 months of pregnancy, turns out I had low iron levels so the doctor prescribed me iron tablets. I imagine massage would have helped reduce the tension too!

I have got horrendous restless legs. I call it "stretchy legs" as thats what it feels like, i want to keep pointing my toes and twitchy my ankles. I am 30 weeks pregnant with my 4th child and i'm 40 years old. I have had it with previous pregnancies, and indeed when im not pregnant, but this time its so much worse. I have zero appetite and its making me so so tired and irritable. Its now spread to the whole of my body so i just feel uncomfortable in my own skin. Even my heart feels irritable its so weird. I had blood test at 28 weeks and all was well, so gawd knows what it is. Im a vegetarian too, so maybe thats what it is, but its seriously driving me crazy. last night i was crying in frustration and it feels like its seriously driving me insane,....why won't/can't my legs feel comfortable?
