I am 8 weeks tomorrow and have been spotting everyday and have had red bleeds twice filling pads. I just had a bleed today while at work. I experienced something similar with our successful cycle. This doesn't mean I'm used to it or even at ease. My nerves are all over. I saw heartbeat at 6 weeks but paranoia is killing me. I feel like something wrong is going on with this continous spotting and on off bleeds. Do I need bedrest? My job is not strenuous I am sitting down the entire day

Is bleeding in pregnancy common in IVF pregnancies. 8 weeks and spotting everyday 😨
Hi Stacia, I am currently 32 weeks pregnant with IVF and also suffered from bleedings/brown spotting from 2 days before the pregnancy test till week 9. Doctors said it was implantation bleeding and it is quite common. If you are stressed, go to hospital and they will do a scan, it could be the same or a hemathome, which could also happen.
On later scans they saw I had a low lying placenta and had two heavy bleedings on weeks 21 and 24, and by then they put me on a sick leave. GP recommended me bed rest which helped me a lot! No more heavy bleedings, but a few days spotting and since my placenta moved I really hope not to have more issues. Pregnancy is not easy, but go to the doctor if in doubt.
I hope everything goes well with you, wish you good luck!
Hi Stacia, I was IVF pregnancy as well and bled a number of times through the pregnancy. In the earlier stages it was spotting and sometimes heavier like a period. They never lasted too long, maybe a few days. Later on I had quite a heavy bleed with quite a large clot which I remember freaking out about. Each time I called my comm midwifery team or went to A&E if I was really concerned.
The earlier bleeds they didn’t really have any explanations for, just that it happens sometimes. Later bleeds (in my pee) were linked to UTIs (I had x4 throughout pregnancy!) which were each treated.
Our golden rule was always call my local team if I was concerned for support/peace of mind. Or go to A&E/GP where it felt more serious. Each time health teams were more than happy to talk to/see me. Today I have a beautiful, healthy 6mo old baby boy!
Try not to worry (I know that’s easier said than done!), I’m sure everything will be fine xx
I had brown spotting around 5-6 weeks and then a massive bleed at 10-11 weeks . I would say yes as I have had natural successful pregnancies with no bleeding at all . All the hormones and the whole process of ivf I would say makes it more likely . I’m now 22 weeks with a very active baby boy and all is going well. Congratulations on your pregnancy 💕 xxx
I’ve had spotting since week 6 with a bright red bleed at week 7
It really scared me.
My doctor said it could be just coming from my cervix as there’s a lot of extra blood flow there. The bleed happened the day after I had sex so it makes sense.
My clinic said as long as it’s not really heavy with clots it’s fine so I’ve just gone off their advice and tried to stay relaxed
It’s hard.
I’m now 10 weeks and it’s stopped. 🙌
I know it’s hard but try to stay calm unless it’s really heavy with bad cramps xxx
Good luck 💕
Hi Stacia, what I gathered together it's apparently very common in IVF pregnancy. I was spotting and bleeding from day 7 after embryo transfer up to 12 week very regularly. The blood varied from pinkish trough red to dark brown. I had 3 additional scans up to 12 weeks all was good baby was always fine. My last period of bleeding/ spotting was from 18 weeks up to 20. Again they did check my ovaries, cervix lining but all was fine. In my case it was definitely caused by cyclogest. After so much bleeding they kept me on in up to 20 weeks. Once I stopped the bleeding disappeared. Apparently cyclogest is causing better blood circulation in your womb and cervix ( that's what is necessary for implantation ). Im currently 30 weeks pregnant and having lovely pregnancy.
yes it is normal, if your on edge, my EPU was really good and were happy for me to go in for a scan, so you could call yours see if they can fit you in
I had a bad bleed and a blood clot the size of an egg when I was about 5 weeks pregnant through ivf, the clinic thought it was down to a sensitive cervix from cyclogest and having sex the day before. Needless to say there wasn’t anymore of that until after I’d finished my cyclogest! I now have a 1yo little boy. I really hope everything works out for you. Good luck x
