Hi Everyone, we’ve just moved our 6 month old into her new cot and all was going well until this morning when she rolled and gave her head a good wallop on the bars of the cot. This obviously resulted in a very very upset and inconsolable little girl. And made my heart break in the process.
I’m very well aware I cannot use anything in the cot such as bumpers or air wraps.etc. But does anyone have any advice at all about how we can prevent this happening in the future? She’s rolling all the time now, and it’s really worried me. Thanks in advance x

aww poor thing but they’re so spongy at this point. Tbh you’ll find once she starts walking she’ll be falling over and bumping herself all the time. She’ll learn that the bars are hard and not to roll right into them. It’s all a learning curve and there’s nothing for you to do but support I’m afraid.
I thought that was the case. I literally google everything too. But wondered if there was any hope. The tears are heartbreaking! and she had a little mark on her head too. I felt like a terrible mummy!! fingers crossed this is not a regular occurrence x x
honestly this is totally normal and how we all learn not to roll about so much in bed it’s much much much safer than putting anything in the cot or on the wee one! My son is 2.5 and has the cot as a bed now and still sometimes gives himself a thump off the headboard wall or even the floor sometimes but he’s perfectly fine and it’s nothing compared to what he does during the day! She (and you) will have a got a wee fright but it does get better and less often and my son doesn’t even react anymore! 🤗💜
Oh her rolling is crazy!! It’s so funny tho, like she’s learned this new skill now and wants to keep using it. Shes all over the place in her cot, and I think she loves it. Made us panic tho when we first put her down and she rolled straight onto her front. We moved her onto her back of course, but then, we can’t do it every time can we, we’d have to stay awake all night with how often she does it. We do have a breathing pad underneath the mattress tho, so that’s a little piece of mind with that.
I just hope she learns not to roll right into the bars soon! It’s not good for my nerves 😳 x x
Hahah aww she sounds so adorable! Yeah rolling into tummy now should be fine if they can roll on they can roll off it again they say but they are such a worry aren’t they 🤪 xx
