Polyhydramnios
Hi,
I was diagnosed at a similar stage. They will likely retest your for gestational diabetes as they can be linked. Mine was negative so I was given regular growth scans. Mine resolved by itself when I was about 34 weeks. They said there was no real reason but I did have a very big baby which it can also be a sign of. They should keep a close eye on you, it’s more often than not harmless xx
Hello I had the same issue and I have a beautiful 8 month old daughter. I was given regular scans speak to your cons. I had a big baby too. But am so positive all will be ok please don’t google as that will scare you more. All the best. 👍
Hello! Try not to worry - I had polyhydramnios with both my children (I’m currently 37 weeks with my 2nd). My first son (now nearly 5) I had it very severe and my waters broke at 33w and I ended up giving birth naturally at 33+4. He had to spend 3 weeks in special care learning how to feed (they don’t develop the sucking reflex until 35w) but was and is perfectly healthy and is now a little a fire cracker!
With this baby I had mild/moderate poly about 28w and I was all mentally prepared for another early baby but by 36w it had resolved itself and it’s now looking like he’ll probably be late!
I had gestational diabetes and infection tests for both boys (usually a trigger for poly) but all were clear - sometimes it’s just the way your body makes babies!
In your case, have they told you if it’s mild/moderate/severe? Mild/moderate usually just resolves itself. Over 50% of the time there is no reason why you have excess. You’ll have regular scans to check on the levels which is one perk as you get to see baby far more often ☺️ My advice would be to avoid Google (!) as you scare yourself unnecessarily reading the case studies on there, try to take it easy and don’t worry - I worked on a maternity unit for a year and never once saw an adverse consequence of poly other than baby coming a bit early (not to say it doesn’t happen but in most cases both you and baby will be absolutely fine!). Modern medicine is amazing and the SCBU teams will make sure your baby has the best start if they do come a bit early. All the best, mama! X
Thank you nice to hear they are all good took 6years for me to build up the courage to try again just constantly waiting on baby is all ok and healthy 🤞 where any of your babaies heads measuring bigger was looking through my notes and checked the brown folder to see measurements body is all measuring 28w or just under head is measuring 29'6? X
I had this with my daughter. They found it at about 27 weeks during a private scan. I was sent for growth scans every 3 weeks. Sometimes the fluid was in normal levels and then sometimes it was back again but they checked every 3 weeks regardless. I had a csection at 39+3 and she was 8lb11oz which compared to my first was bigger and earlier. (He was born 7lb7oz at 41 weeks) they didn't retest for gestational diabetes with me (negative at 23 weeks) but I wish they had of done as we had lots in my blood tests which point to that and my consultant said afterwards it could have been that. Either way, my daughter was born healthy. Most of the time it is unexplained and all the extra stress and tests are just to keep an eye on things. Thinking of you as I know how stressful it is xxxxx
I was tested early with my last little girl for diabetes and was positive I will be 31wks by the time they do the tests this time i thought they had to be done before 26wks same as my anti d injections getting them the day after. Everything is such a mess in the hosp atm wait 2/3hours for an app to be seen for 2mins and out which is not helping settle the nerves 😔 x
