Babies and Covid

With rates on the rise again, I’m worried about my 7 month old catching covid. I’m balancing exposing her to others whilst at baby groups for development to keeping her home as much as possible.

My question is, has your young baby caught covid, if so, how did they cope/recover?

Thanks in advance :)

I can only speak from experience of those around me, but my 2 close friends have had Covid at different times. 1 friend and her then 3month old tested positive and baby was grumpy as you expect with a cold but absolutely fine, the other friend has recently had it and even though her 8 week old hasn’t officially tested positive she thinks it’s highly likely he’s had/got it, but again, he’s fine. Bit snuffly, snotty and she had a bad night a few nights ago but he seems to doing ok xx

My baby had Covid when she was 6 months old, she had cold symptoms and a little grouchy but seemed better after 5 days.

Hey, my little girl had it when she was 8.5 months and it was honestly no worse than some of the colds she’s had. Please don’t worry too much from what I have heard babies normally get it mildly. We just stayed on top of the Calpol & made sure she had lots of fluids (she’s down to 3 feeds a day so not getting as much milk). If we’d not tested positive and done a lateral flow on her we’d have just thought she had a cold. I was as worried as you before but the GP reassured me and she was fine xx

My little boy (10 months) had it last week, he seemed totally fine except a little cough ( only reason we tested him) my other half was floored with it at the same time and I didn’t catch it at all 🤷🏻‍♀️I dont think there’s any rhyme or reason to it tbh but the little ones I know defo seem to be coping better than the adults. I’ve had him mixing with other kids at parties/soft play but I think he either caught it from his gran (who works in a college and also got it same time) or other half so I’m not sure we could have avoided him mixing with parent and Gran anyway xx

My 8 month old caught covid at Christmas and was a bit unwell - temperature, coughing a bit but nothing unusual. If I didn’t know about covid I would have just thought it was like any other bug they pick up.

Try not to worry my 7.5 month has just had and she's fine now. Just a bad cold gave calpol a few times and used snuffle babe and nasal spray. Several unsettled nights but slept through like normal last night x

My friend has a 6 month old and she caught covid at about 5 months. Only mild symptoms, so didn’t need to be seen by dr or go to hospital. Is pooping 10 times per day thou and the drs said this is a common side effect in babies and can last a few moths but it’s not serious, she is fine and beautiful!
