I'm 12 weeks pregnant and I've been bleeding on and off for about a week now. I had a scan yesterday and baby is fine but they found I have cervical ectropion.
Has anyone had this?
I like to go for about 1-2 hour morning walks and have found that by the evening I'm bleeding. Should I stop my walks?
I had one a few years ago but was not pregnant at the time. The bleeding could be quite severe. I had it cauterised with silver nitrate but not sure if they can do that when pregnant. Did they give you any treatment options or just tell you to live with it? Moving around can make it bleed more but the bleeding is actually pretty harmless, it is just unpleasant (my worst day I wondered if I was having a miscarriage - it was so bad I had to leave work as sanitary things would not contain it and had not had it diagnosed at that point so was really freaked out). Walking during pregnancy is a good thing so I would have thought you’re fine to keep doing it as long as you can manage the bleeding. However, as always it’s best to check with midwife or GP, especially if it is getting worse xx
Yes at times it's been quite severe and it freaks me out every time! They said I can't have it treated until after pregnancy, it's really reassuring hearing others experiences. The doctor said walking is absolutely fine but I just hate bleeding afterwards. I'm slowly starting to get used to it, but can't help but panic every time I see the blood 🙈 xx
I'm not surprised - it was bad enough when not pregnant. Fingers crossed you will be lucky and it will sort itself out in a few weeks. At least you know it is totally harmless as far as bubs is concerned xx
I had bright red bleeding when I was 10 weeks pregnant but the cause was never discovered. They scanned me and baby was fine.
Then I had another bleed between 14 and 16 weeks. It was old blood and this time I was diagnosed with cervical ectropion which they say is caused by high levels of estrogen and cells from your inner cervix growing on the outside.
My bleeding stopped after 2 weeks or so and did not impact on my pregnancy in any way although I was initially very worried at the time. I am currently 38 weeks pregnant.
As long as baby is fine, don’t think this is something to worry about. All the best x
Good to know your bleeding stopped after a couple weeks! It freaks me out every time I bleed and it's been every day for nearly a week now, although it is starting to get lighter so fingers crossed it stops soon! I guess I'm just going to have to get used to it. Thank you! Xx
I had the same, but it was found after pregnancy as my lochia was lasting longer than normal. I got treated as well with silver nitrate, which is something you can discuss with your gp or midwife as not sure if you can get it while pregnant.
They told me it was quite a common condition and that was more likely due to hormons changes and that it would get healed by itself even without the silver nitrate but that def helped me.
Yes they said I can get it treated after pregnancy, so strange as I've never had it before! Yes speaking to others has made me realise it's more common than I thought! I'm just going to have to get used to the bleeding! 🙈 xx
As the others says, as long as the baby is fine try not to overworry about it, it will go back to normal!! Keep being active (without overdoing) and hopefully soon enough it will get better! Best of luck!
