The below extract is from the NHS website with information about Express feeding from Breastmilk. We are doing good with it however, I've defrosted the first express milk overnight in the fridge. Mum is asleep and I'll be feeding him soon.
What exactly is meant by the sentence below?
"Once it's defrosted, give it a gentle shake if it has separated. Use it straight away."
Is it telling me to use milk as soon as it has defrosted or use milk as soon as I have shaken the storage bag? Does separated just mean defrosted?
This may seem obvious to most people but unfortunately I pick apart everything I read until it's blatantly obvious.
Thank you

Hi, It means to use it as soon as possible after it's defrosted. It's ok to defrost in the fridge and use within 24 hours since you took it out of the freezer so not necessarily straight away. The fat will separate that's why you need to shake it. If baby takes it cold or room temperature, you can give it straight away, but better warm it up to a body temperature.
