Hi, I think my baby has silent reflux and not sure if should do anything as seems to be getting worse.
He is very unsettled and won’t settle unless being held which is exhausting. Every time we put him down on his back he chokes/gags. He is very inconsistent when we burp him - often won’t burp when burping but will do so randomly at other times - it causes a build up of gas which makes his tummy really hard and uncomfortable.
I’m not sure how long I can manage it as just so exhausted from being up and holding him.
Thank you

I had the same problem with my girl and yes the gp confirmed it was silent reflux. Had gaviscon prescribed for her to be used with every feed. It did help her . The reflux didn’t go away but the chocking and gagging got better. I am with you with holding the baby all the time . The first 4 months of her life went on my hubby or on my shoulder. It is very exhausting but hey keep it up!! You are doing a good job. My girl is 1 year old now and she is now sleeping on the cot on her back. So get the GP appointment and all the best.
Hi, my wee girl had acid reflux until she was 5 months. I found burping her properly did help and keeping her upright after feeds for at least 25mins - even at night, she made terrible choking noises when sleeping at night for a few months which always worried me, but was fine. I tried medication which didn’t work, but I think breastfeeding was good for her and she just outgrew the reflux naturally. Any worries contact the health visitor. Good luck!
