Hi everyone, I was after some info about our postpartum bodies. In particular, does anyone know if it happens that due to pregnancy and childbirth, the vaginal walls become looser, and the pelvic floor weaker, which would give bulges in the vagina, that look like prolapse, *but aren't really prolapse*?
In other words, is there such a thing, in the early weeks postpartum, as "lack of tone looking like prolapse" but that is not prolapse (meaning the organs (bladder, uterus, rectum) are all at the location where they should be, not lower)?
I am 5 weeks pp with my first.
Thank you.

Congratulations on your birth. If you're worried about anything in particular you can speak to your doctor at your check up and all them to check your healing OK. 5 weeks is still fairly early on and not everything is going to be back to normal down there for a while yet. I don't think at 5 weeks I'd even stopped bleeding yet.
Thank you. I don't have my GP appointment set yet, so I was trying to gather some info beforehand (and trying not to panic too much). It's impossible to find clear info online on "how" things are going to be different for several weeks, so it's hard to know if things are normal, or worrying. Cheers ^^
Yes, nothing quite prepares you for what it's like down there afterwards. I made a huge mistake of trying to look with a mirror. Definitely not my best idea, but I'm sure probably won't be able to resist after I have my second. Try not to panic, it is a huge amazing thing your body has just gone through and it does take time to recover from it xx
Indeed. It took me a few days to have the first look. All in all is rather know so I can do something about it. Just like there is a website (I think?) where real women post pics of their pregnant and postpartum bodies to give a more realistic and not take and polished view of what real women look like, I wish there was an equivalent for down there! I feel kept in the dark otherwise! Hopefully will see a PFPT soon though, I can't wait. Thanks and take care. By the way congrats on your new pregnancy
I don't know the specifics to answer your question, but you can do pelvic physiotherapy that can really help a lot postpartum, so I would definitely look into that xxx
I felt a bit baggy down there for a while, but am now 6 months and feeling ok and normal again. Do try and remember pelvic floor exercises when you can though. I try and do them while changing nappies so it reminds me each time to do it
Thank you! I was hesitant to get started with the exercises as I know some people are tight rather than weak in those muscles and exercising them can cause more harm than good, but I decided to try. I installed an app today and will get on with it. Cheers!
