Hello, just after some general experiences of anyone who has or have polyhydramnious. What were the risks and how did you cope with the breathlessness?

I had a growth scan at 32 weeks and they found I have it mildly so I don’t get too much breathlessness although at night i have to move around a lot cause some positions make me a little breathless.

I am starting to get more uncomfortable now at 34 weeks - stretch marks below belly button are getting sore.

Got my second growth scan tomorrow so will know more then!

Hi,

Thanks for replying. Hope your scan goes well today : )

Have they suggested a birthing plan or have you adapted a birthing plan to take the poly into consideration? X

Hi,

I had this, but never had breathlessness I was just uncomfortable at times.

I had to go be induced on my due date and have my waters broke as soon as I was 3cms as there is a risk the cord can prolapse. The doctor held the cord to prevent this. I lost 2.5 litres of water and I kept leaking water during Labour.

When my baby was born she had to have a tube inserted through her nose into her stomach to check for a blockage as that could be another issue. She was fine. Your midwife will be able to talk you through it.

I had undiagnosed Poly which they didn't pick up until they broke my waters and I had 3.5 litres! But it explained a lot as my belly was HUGE and struggled walking up the stairs and even showering but didn't know what was causing it at the time they thought "baby is measuring big" so induced me (she was 7lb 9oz). I was monitored a lot during labour as the baby had so much room to move the chord could have caused issues but everything went fine, and bambino was perfect! A little swollen to begin with!

Currently, 28 weeks with my second and they think I have it again but the breathlessness is more noticeable this time, so I'm just taking it easy and I have to sit a lot. I also have asthma which is playing up so that doesn't help. Seeing the consultant next week though to check growth etc
