Pregnancy workouts

Hi, I am new here. I recently found out that I am pregnant and wondering what kind of physical activity is safe during the first trimester. I used to have HIIT workouts 4 x per week, but now it is obvious that I need to adapt my workouts. I would be very grateful to get any suggetions. Also, what kind of exersices I need to avoid to prevent the abdominal diastase? Thank you.

I was told by my obstetrician that you can continue doing whatever you were doing pre-pregnancy. The reason why it’s good to not abruptly introduce intense exercise is because your ligaments and bones get softer during pregnancy so you feel the impact more and it might wear you out. I continued Kayla Itsines BBT program throughout my pregnancy up until week 39. The only exercises you need to avoid are workouts involving laying flat on the ground with your legs moving (lower ab exercises) because- a) after trimester 1 it’s not safe to lay flat on your back for extended periods as it could disrupt the oxygen supply for baby; and b) it puts pressure on your lower abdomen. Having said that, it’s best to check with your doctor to see what is safe for you as each pregnancy is different. Hope this helps!
