I think I may already know the answer to this but is there anything to keep weeing in the night at bay? I'm almost 29 weeks and I'm really struggling now with sleep because I'm up literally every hour of the night going for a wee. It doesn't happen in the day, just seems to be as soon as I lie down. It's really starting to get me down now, I just can't get a full night's sleep which is effecting my ability to do anything in the day! I have a 2 year old who I am sure would love his mum to do more activi with him, major mum guilt!!

Weeing at night....
A friend of mine with four kids told me when I got pregnant, that when you pee to lean forward so that you empty your bladder fully. It was the only piece of advice she gave me so I took it that it was vital. It does seem to help me as if I don't do it I need to wee quite quickly after.
You could try limiting your fluids a couple of hours before you sleep,.but make sure you're drinking plenty throughout they day. Might not help but worth a try.
Hi hun, I’m going through the exact same thing as you. Up to ten times a night, driving me crazy. I try not to drink anything after 6pm & as the other ladies have said leaning forward slightly seems to help. So fed up of little hampster wee’s lol! X
Yup, basically everything everyone else has said. On a positive note, it may not be this bad for the rest of the pregnancy. I've just had my 3rd baby (yesterday) and found for all 3 it didn't just get gradually worse as the weeks went by but up and down as I had hormone surges and as baby changed positions. I found that during the worst times it was always when I first went to bed that was the more frequent toilet trips, so made an effort to drink more earlier in the day, actually cut myself off for anything but plain water (which I'm not a fan of so I only small sipped when genuinely thirsty) from 5pm, and started going to 'try' for a wee every hour from then till bedtime. I also found that the constant up and down when trying to get to sleep in the first place was really frustrating and gave me restless legs, so sometimes went to bed later to avoid that frustration.
Yes... The perks of being pregnant. I was up every hour until i have birth. No advice, sorry.
Hey, the leaning forward is helping me too. I am 35 weeks, I worked it out a week ago exactly. I had the most satisfying wee I have had through the whole pregnancy. It was a public toilet, so one cannot sit down, so I leaned ... you get the picture
Just make room for the growing bump, lean forward and relax. You will still need to go at night, but hopefully not es frequently. Hope it works for you too
A squatty potty to lift your legs up will put you in a better posture (more like squatting, which is the physiological, efficient way of emptying the bowels and bladder) to fully empty your bladder. Also reducing your fluid intake an hour before bed, and only drink a sip or 2 tops if your mouth is dry during the night (it's important to not be fully dehydrated, in the other extreme, either!). Do you eat enough salt in your diet? As adequate intakes of salt will help your body retain teh water where it needs it. Finally I hear that some waking up during the night is beneficial for the foetus as it keeps the baby stimulated so while 10 times a night is definitely very disruptive the goal is not necessarily 0 and I think as pregnant people it's best we try to accept that. Oh which brings me to 2 more things I can think of, one is try and make peace with it as well (if you get upset each time you wake up to go pee you'll sleep less deeply and will be more easily awake at the slightest signals) and finally I have heard (and tried) that you can try and "train" yourself little by little to hold on longer, adding 5mins each time, just to reset and bring up your threshold of when you're needing to go to the loo. A lot of that is habit and in the mind. Personally I am nearly 28 weeks now and I need to go on average twice a night, those days where I drink more it's 4. Except some more seldom times, I just go back to sleep, not turning the lights on (or very dim) so that I don't get woken up; other times I appreciate the waking up because since being pregnant I have more vivid dreams and sometimes nightmares and this resets me and guarantees me a good rest of teh night! I am usually worried of being dehydrated so I'd rather wake up too much than too little - not that I'm necessarily right, just explaining how my mindset is different. For sure if it was 10 times a night I'd try and find ways to reduce that. One last thought - could your room be too warm, making you thirsty and drinking more at night as opposed to the day?
I was going to come on here and ask the same thing but I'm only 15 weeks! I'm up twice a night but can be 3 times. I presume it'll get worse. Part of me thinks it's just training for all the sleep i'll miss later on anyway. Anyway, I do drink a lot during the day so I'm going to try limit my drinking water from dinner.
I have always peed a lot even when not pregnant so I expected to have issues with it.
Sorry for the late reply to this but I wouldn't recommend limiting your intake of fluids! Both you and the baby need them! I've researched excessive weeing - decaff tea and coffee can create an over active bladder, also I find my problem is caused by taking heartburn relief, as the tablets I take turn the acid into water, hence the needing to wee more often. Hope all goes well with your pregnancy... the 2nd trimester is a breeze but during the 3rd trimester when baby is getting heavy the full on peeing starts all over again!
