I had my 12 week scan last Tuesday. My NT measurement was 3.3mm (sonographer advised this was high side of normal range 3.5mm is classed as high) I had my combined bloods done on the same day.
I recieved a phone call today from my screening midwife to advise higher risk of combined Edwards and Patau syndrome (1 in 37) due to low papp-A.
My amnio is booked for Mon 1st Feb and all I have been doing since recieving the phone call is worrying.
Is anyone else in a similar situation? Or had any positive outcomes!

Hi. Did your clinic not recommend a harmony test? It’s a simple blood test and you get the results in a week but you do have to pay for it. It does cost around £300. I refused an amino as have a history of recurrent miscarriages.
My combined screening came out at a 1 in 49 chance of downs but the harmony test which is much more accurate came back at 1 in 10,000!
Let me know if you need any more info? Best of luck. X
No they never really mentioned anything about the harmony test just that it wasnt offered at the hospital i have chosen but she did mention about another local hospital having avaliable, but i wasnt really concentrating at that point.
I have been looking online at private clinics that offer harmony and can see its approx £500, i might ring my screening midwife tomorrow to discuss with her before having the amnio.
Sorry to hear about you recurrent miscarriages. Those odds of 1 in 10,000 sound much better then 1 in 49!
I feel like all we do is worry through our pregnancies even though it should be a joyful experience.
Hope it all goes well with the tests. I'm not sure the worrying ever stops. I thought it would get better after arrival of a healthy baby but there just seem to be different things to worry about! I think it might be part of being a mum, so try and enjoy things as well as worrying!
I’m so sorry you’ve had so much worry. It can also be referred to as the NIPT screening I think, the harmony test. If you can get that quickly you may be able to avoid the amino. I think if the NIPT still shows high risk they will still recommend amnio. Will be thinking of you, fingers crossed that all is just fine xxx
Not sure if you seen my post on here but I had my 12 week scan on Monday nd NT came back as 3.9mm. Been referred to a specialist fetal clinic for Monday for a more detailed scan. My bloods were done on Monday too so hope they come back in time for my appointment. I was also advised by my consultant of the NIPT, prior to having to chose an amnio. I know totally how you feel as I'm petrified atm.
Not sure if you felt the same but once my scan was over and I was given all this scary info, it tainted the happiness for me and I'd lost all enthusiasm to tell my father and in-laws of the pregnancy...felt like I myself couldn't be happy until i knew more information.
I had a low papp a score and was advised baby was high risk of downs syndrome. I had what they call a safe test which is a blood test. Not all hospitals offer this on the NHS.. My results came back low risk and baby arrived safe and well with no health issues.Low papp a can be a sign of pre eclampsia risk later on. Again i was high risk as both my sisters developed it. I was monitoref and didn't develop pre eclampsia thankfully I was taking aspirin daily as advised. Good luck, its hard but try not to worry to much until you know more. These tests are great but not always accurate. X
