Can you test positive in the morning and negative in the afternoon?

Hello guys!

So following on from my previous post, I got the most faint second line on a home pregnancy test this morning. It wasn’t my first pee of the day, it was my second.

I posted the picture in here to get peoples opinions and a couple of people said it looks like a faint positive and to retest to be sure.

I have no patience to wait until tomorrow morning to retest.. so I did a clear blue digital one around 3pm, it was negative.

Is it possible to test positive in the morning and negative by the afternoon? I’m no further forward knowing whether I’m with child or not and it’s driving me crazy.

If you're only very early on in pregnancy, your HCG levels will be highest in your first morning urine as they build up overnight. So it's possible to test negative after that first morning urine as there won't be the same amount of hormone in your urine. That's why the tests tell you to use your first urine if the day to test as that's when you'll get the strongest result.

Thank you so much. I’m going to have to re test in the morning. That’s what I get for being so impatient haha

Remember that HCG doubles every 48 hours xx

Yes because your urine is stronger with the hcg in the morning give it a few days and test again! You only need 50 to show up on a home test your probably really early in the pregnancy

Try a digital test, they're usually a bit more expensive but so much clearer to read! I bought one for about a tenner but haven't had to do any more, I also used the first urine of the day.
