Polyhydramnios

Has anyone had Polyhydramnios? I’m 33 weeks pregnant and my midwife is sending me for another growth scan tomorrow as I have excess growth. I had a growth scan at 31 weeks and was diagnosed with mild Polyhydramnios. But since then my measurements has nearly doubled in 2 weeks and is over the 95th percentile

Hello I had polyhydramnios but I wasn't really given much information about it. I was under the hospital doctors for several reasons including gestational diabetes. The doctor said it could be due to the gestational diabetes but it didn't really fit because my blood sugars were good. She didn't seem concerned about it. I had an induction and monitoring during labour but was having that anyway due to gestational diabetes. There was a huge amount of fluid when my waters broke! My brother read online polyhydramnios can happen for no particular reason. Have you got another scan?

Hello. Yes, I was diagnosed with this at around 34 weeks. They couldn’t find a reason for it, it can sometimes be because of gestational diabetes but I tested negative for that. I had extra scans and they were considering inducing me at 39 weeks but my fluid levels had gone back to normal on their own by then so they waited an extra week and I was induced on my due date instead. Sometimes they don’t know why there is extra fluid, I was a bit concerned but everything was fine with the birth and with my son. Please try not to worry, you should be closely monitored now

Hi, what was your AFI reading when you were diagnosed?

I have recently been diagnosed too. I am 28 weeks measuring at 34. Scan confirmed excess fluid & I have another scan next week. Negative for diabetes. Consultant did say 50% percent of cases are of an unknown cause. He also said although baby was measuring big it was not a reliable indicator until about 34 weeks. Have you had another scan?
