What does consultant led mean?

Hi all, I had an operation last year on my bowel and have a condition that makes me more likely to get polyps so I have been told I will be consultant led. I was just wondering what happens at a first consultant appointment and what to expect in the long term, will I have more scans?

I was consultant led after my 20 week scan identified a pleural effusion in baby's chest. I had more frequent scans than usual, and it was nice to be able to see baby more often. It was quite reassuring that we were looked after quite well and closely monitored. Hope all goes well for you x

Not necessarily. It would be something that will be discussed with your consultant during your appointment, but you might be discharged depending on your condition, if you're on any medication etc.

I had one consultant appointment in my second and third pregnancies and discharged after this.
