Hi everyone, we’ve just found out I’m 5 weeks pregnant, waiting for a midwife appointment to be sent to me, does anyone have any tips? And is anyone worried about being pregnant with this virus going around? I’m a hairdresser and I’m really unsure with whether I should still work or not x

Congratulations, If you haven't already start taking folic acid and vitamin D, or a multi vitamin specific for pregnancy.
There's a lots of information on the nhs website about dos and don'ts as well as information about your scans and tests etc.
Your workplace should do a risk assessment for you and include the Covid risk also. If you cannot work safely they need to adapt your role so that any risk is minimal or put you on leave on full pay. There's information on your rights doting pregnancy here maternityaction.org.uk/advi...
Thank you that’s very kind and helpful, I’m self employed so it’s abit hard to give me a different role that’s why it’s difficult to know what to do, I’ve been taken folic acid a while so I will get some vitamin d tomorrow x
Have a read of the guidelines from the college of obstetricians. Basically unless you have a prior health condition you are not considered at higher risk before 28 weeks. You should social distance/ make sure you wear a mask and get others to wear one. You can always go see an occupational health physician that can give more details.
Thank you so much x
Congratulations!
I’m currently 28 weeks (tomorrow) and I haven’t even seen a midwife since my booking appointment at 6 weeks. I hope you get a better run of it. Just make sure you stay aware and away from people as you don’t know where they have been.
Hey, thank you, congratulations to you too; I I’m sorry to hear that! That’s pretty scary isn’t it? Thank you I will do that no problem out of work it’s just at work but we wear the ppe and I’m so strict on sanitising, so fingers crossed will be ok x
Congratulations!!!! I'm 5 weeks as well Try and eat as healthy as you can. Lots of fruit and vegetables. Just make sure you wash before you eat them. Wash your hands regularly and wear a mask when working, take your clients temperatures and have them do hand hygiene etc before you begin. Your midwife will be able to answer all your questions and no question is silly. Good Luck on your journey x
Hey, thank you so much, congratulations to you too! How are you feeling? Thank you, have you heard from your midwife yet? Good luck lovely x
Congratulations! I'm 8 weeks and have just had my 1st midwife appointment this week. It was in 2 parts, first I went in to the doctors so they were able to do my weight, height, take a urine sample and some bloods. Then she called me a few days later to run through the medical history questions and some other paperwork. I think they're trying to minimise the amount of face to face time at the minute. I'm now waiting for a letter from the hospital for my first scan and my obstetricians appointment - this will probably take place anywhere from 10 - 14 weeks I've been told. I won't then speak to my midwife until week 16 and that's likely to be a telephone conversation too x
Congratulations to you too that’s amazing news! How are you finding it? Oh my god really! That’s so scary to think you don’t have a lot of contact with them I feel like I have 3 million questions already, it’s a very different time at the moment isn’t it x
