Could I be in labour??

Hi,

I’m 40 +3 days, I had a sweep at 39weeks was 1cm dilated and 1cm cervix, went to midwife appointment on the Friday after that to find I was still 1cm and 1cm cervix but could be stretched to 2cm. I currently went to my 40 weeks midwife appointment, my cervix is sitting at 1cm dilated and 1cm cervix but she’s could stretch to 2-3cm dilated.

I had my show and loads of mucus from Tuesday. I’ve currently got a constant pain in the bottom of my belly since yesterday. It’s really hurting to walk.

Has anyone experienced this? Or does it sound like I’ve dilated more or in labour?

It sounds like you're definitely close, but you'll know when you're in proper labour and having contractions. As long as your still having lots of movement from baby just take it easy and rest up and get your bags ready xx

I was going to say the same thing- if you have to ask if you’re in labour then you’re probably not😂 As you’ll definitely know when you are! Good luck xx

Hi!

You could be in early labour definitely. It's not necessarily that obvious at that point.

My labour was super long and the first evening it was subtle symptoms like I felt I had to take deep breaths once in a while but it wasn't clear that they were contractions as they were very infrequent and mild. For some people it might be obvious from the start but it doesn't always work that way. I was pretty sure it was the beginning of it though.

As for the dilation, you could be 1-2 cm dilated for ages or go from that to fully dilated in a few hours. I hope it's the second and things get started soon. Once you're a bit closer to active labour you will know for sure that you're in labour so don't worry about it (if you can).

Good luck with everything xx

It does sound like you’re on your way! Things could either go really slow or speed up rapidly. I had my little boy at 40+6, I lost my plug early morning on a Saturday, I spent all day in moderate pain wondering whether I was in labour or not (so if people tell you that you won’t need to ask if you’re in labour because ‘you’ll know’ that’s not always the case) and by 7:40am on the Sunday morning he was here because things picked up really fast! Good luck☺️

I was wondering if you had your little one yet? Cause it sure sounds like you are almost there and I noticed your post was two days ago. Congratulations! And God Bless You and Your Family!
