I went to the hospital on 5/23 I was 4 weeks 1 day & they did an ultrasound and seen completely nothing and my hcg was 521 they told me to come back 5/26 so I went back an a gestational sac was visible very very small but no yolk sac or fetal pole an my hcg went up all the way too 2,524 Has anyone had this happen before and is it just to early for yolk sac or fetal pole to show ?

4 weeks! they couldn't see a sack at 5 weeks with my little one, shocked they even did it. Far too early any doctor should know that. you should see a better picture at 6-8 weeks! x

Yes on my discharge paperwork it say too early for ultrasound because just 3 days before they seen a sac they didn’t see anything at all so that’s why I’m kind of not discouraged because they said it’s obviously growing

5 weeks they saw a yolk sac with me and at 7 weeks they saw a fetal Pole and his heartbeat he’s now 5 months old and very much here 😂 x

Hi there,

Don't be discouraged it is way too early. Early scans are recommended between 6-8 weeks, this is the time heartbeat, gestational sac etc. are more visible. Wait until 7 or 8 weeks for certainty.

Do you mean you had a scan in hospital as as soon as you found out you are pregnant? I’ve never heard that, usually early scans happen at least 6-7 weeks and if they don’t see much they ask to come back in a. week or two. I’m surprised you had 2 scans in 2-3 days.. The growth of your hcg level is very good so there are no reasons to be worried. I hope all goes well x
