Question about poo!!

Hi ladies.

Just looking for some advice/reassurance. I have a 4 week old baby and yesterday and the day before he only had 1 dirty nappy each day. Today as of yet no dirty nappy’s. He is formula fed. Should I do anything? Is it normal??? Xx

Joseph is the same, when I breastfeed at the start he would sometimes go days.

Since being in formula he only poo’s once a day and sometime every other day.

If I remember rightly it’s after 5 days when you need to get concerned.

You can give Zak some water to help things along but only 1-2oz.

Hey hun, I wouldn’t worry too much, this is perfectly normal behaviour. As told by my GP before that I don’t go for a poo every day so why should my baby lol

My daughter is on medicine for constipation as she finds it hard poo full stop unless she has this medicine and my little girl can go for a week atleast sometimes more!

If you do have any questions though or are worried I would speak to your health visitor or if you as a mum thinks something is wrong I’d go to your GP but as far as I’m aware it is okay for babies not to poi every day, even every other day as long as they are still having wet nappies.

I haven’t heard about the water unless it is cool boiled water but at 4 weeks I’d ask health visitor first. I didn’t do things like that until my baby was older so I’m not sure there.

My HV said if they haven’t gone for 5 days then contact GP. So I wouldn’t worry yet. They just go through these phases x

yes it happens if he goes 3 days than definitely call pediatrician

Totally normal. Try and warm bath and baby massage - works a treat with my little girl!
