First of all congratulations.
I phoned my doctor and they gave me a referral form to fill out at reception, they then send to midwife and then midwife will contact you for your 1st meeting when your around 8 weeks.
I hope this helps xx
Your local hospital website is likely to have info on how to refer to your local midwives. Otherwise the surgery should advise you how to get in touch. Make sure you're taking pre natal pregnancy vitamins.
Look at the NHS website which has all the info about pregnancy what to do, the appointments, what not to eat/ drink etc
Congrats!
Similar situation but with a less rude receptionist. In Cardiff current situation means they email you the form for you to return by email. Not sure how you get the email address for your area though if the dr won’t give it to you!
Prior to covid, my doctor would do the referral but now they do it over the phone and email the form for you. You are pregnant and need a referral to midwives, it may not seem important to her but it is. There was no need for her to speak to you like that. I would phone again tomorrow and explain you need to be referred to midwife care and under the current circumstances, what is the process?
I hope this helps and congratulations 🙂 x
Thank you for your help,I hope I’ll have luck tomorrow.Take care🤗
Hello!
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Don't let anyone or anything deflate your happiness!
Every surgery is different... I am 6 weeks pregnant and based in London. My Doctors surgery requested that I self-refer, which means contacting the maternity dept of the local hospital and registering as being pregnant. It's a 5 min questionnaire and they book in the 12 week nucheal scan.
I hope this helps! Good luck, take care of yourself and enjoy this special time xx
Congratulations to you too😊Thank you for your support and take care🍀
Yes, every surgery is different. I went to mine, book an appointment with the GP, then it was moved to a phone one because of COVID ( I was 5 weeks then). Then this call happened when I was 8 weeks and my GP referred me to my midwife. I got a call from my midwife at 10 weeks and I received a letter from the hospital with the scan dates a week after.
Hope this helps. Best of luck x
