Nursery incidents

Hey just after a bit of advice. So I’m a first time mum and a big worrier. It took me a while to find a good nursery and I’m very happy with the one I’ve chosen. However, baby has been there nearly 2 weeks and 2 incidents have been reported. So baby is at the stage where he is crawling everywhere and getting on his knees etc but he’s not walking yet. However, he had an incident where he fell and knocked his head( no bruising or anything) and then today he’s cut the top of his gums. The nursery said he was crawling and he quickly turned or something and knocked himself but his teeth caught the top of his gum and it was bleeding a little. What should I do? Are these things to be expected? Should I email them? There aren’t many soft mats and he won’t remain in one corner as in the baby corner and wants to crawl the whole room? Advice needed please😘😊

I don’t know if I would be too worried especially if your happy with the nursery in general. Also because of what stage he is at with crawling etc. These things always seem to happen at once even at home you seem to go through times when things happen one after the other. If it happens anymore I would maybe mention it.

I haven’t been in this situation so can’t say for certain how I would feel but from my own feelings of my nursery I wouldn’t be worried x

Ahh thank you... it’s just one worry after the other. I just needed reassurance that it’s normal as I don’t want to make a fuss😘

These are things to be expected no matter where your little one is I'm afraid. Minor accidents happen & are a normal part of children exploring their environments & learning what they can & cant do. We can't stop them whether at home or nursery. Just this eve my son has fallen & bumped his head on the door frame.

The nursery will regularly evaluate their risk assessments based on what accidents have occurred too as part of their safe guarding xx

I totally get it.... thank you for reminding me that it’s all normal and expected. The mum guilt is a real thing and I’m actually enjoying work etc and don’t want to think I’m putting my baba in jeaopardy.... nice to know that it should be expected and will happen 😘😘

I used to work in an 'outstanding' day nursery, the staff there were amazing but accidents still happened.

The thing that I've noticed is that you were told about a head bump even though there was no mark - this is a sign that they follow all of their processes properly and aren't hiding anything 😊.

To be expected...try to remember he’ll be watched all by more than one nursery worker and they are really good at differentiating between a bump and something more serious. The more they move, the more they have little bumps and accidents!
