I’m very happy about this but I have a prolapsed bladder since before I was pregnant the first time my little girl is almost 2 and I haven’t had any follow ups about my bladder and I know it has prolapsed further. As the title states I am now pregnant with my second and I’m worried that the drs don’t seem concerned that my prolapsed bladder has come further into the vaginal cavity and almost blocks the passage. This makes bowel movements awkward already and I’m really worried about what it might do after the birth of my second child. Does anyone know how I can get a referral (in the U.K) for an examination and include care of this in my maternity and birth plan? Thanks everyone

Pregnant with my second child
That sounds difficult and frustrating!
Have you requested a referral to a physio specialising in post partum treatment so you can be assessed? It might be worth seeking something out privately (if money isn’t tight) and get that professional to provide a written record of what they find so you can share it with you midwife

I had several operations pre pregnancy and a suspected abdominal hernia (that I discovered and then pushed for an ultrasound) that I mentioned as part of my booking in appointment last December, but it wasn’t until 5 weeks before my due date in the summer that the midwife referred me to a consultant who had the audacity to ask why I was only coming to see him at that point! My response? “That’s what I’d like to know!”. Cue panic from him saying I might need a c section 🙄 I stood my ground and all was fine in the end, but my point is that you might need to fight your corner quite loudly to get them to pay attention!
Good luck x
Update I pushed for an examination and asked to see a consultant as part of my maternity care plan, I’ve been put forward for a ring ordinary to hold it all up to help with carrying well and it will be removed for the birth. I’ve been referred for physiology with the nhs physio department. Hopefully this improves things and I can avoid it getting worse. They have said if I prolapse further after delivery there’s really nothing to prevent that so we will have to look at that later as part of my post party’s after delivery in August. 😊
