Just a quick one. What’s everyone’s opinion on the sleeping bags? My 15week old it’s very fidgety on a night sometimes ends up the wrong way around in her next to me and blankets get kicked off Just want to know peoples opinions on them before getting one so don’t bite my head and say I’m trying to restrict my baby happened on my last post as I was concerned of her rolling over on her belly in her sleep and wondered if there were anything I could do to prevent it as a first time mum it petrified me and I were made out like I were trying to stop her development 😂

I loved sleeping bags so I would definitely recommend them. What worries you about rolling? I was the same as she couldn’t roll back if she got stuck so just had to keep putting her back on her back until she learnt herself x

In her sleep she rolls on her tummy And can’t get back I woke up one morning she rolled right on her stomach and put her head to the side I absolutely crapped myself just get scared of all that 🤷🏻‍♀️

in reply toLilmossy

Yeah I get that. We went through that for a while and just had to keep moving her. Very tiring but doesn’t last long xx

im always watching her sleep my anxiety is really high especially because she literally ends up to the top or bottom of the next to me 😩😩

in reply toLilmossy

When my LG moved into her cot we bought an angelcare movement monitor which sounds an alarm if it can’t detect baby and we still use it now and she’s 1.5 years old. Just the extra piece of mind xx

I have the bt one think it’s 5000 so I can see her if I take her to nap I set it up so I can go do my daily thing I would panic too much with an alarm one I think x

in reply toLilmossy

Yeah we have a separate video one but bought the movement one when she moved into her room and it only goes off if she really rolls to the top or bottom of her bed x

My baby’s been in grobags since he was a few weeks old as long as they fit correctly I don’t see what’s restricting about them. I suffer with anxiety so him sleeping with a blanket would of meant me not sleeping at all and the fact you can get use different togged ones depending on the room temp, I couldn’t be without them x

Thank you, I have bad anxiety over her sleeping with a blanket too just because she moves rolls and literally does a flip so she’s turned around In bed and her heads at the bottom my partner shouts at me for staying awake watching her the majority of the night 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hard when u have all this worry xx

E_05 in reply toLilmossy

Definitely is hard, my little boy use to be like that with the blanket. He still moves around in his sleeping bag but no worries about it going over his face or anything. Duno if you’ve got an Aldi near you but they’ve got a baby event on atm and have sleeping bags for a good price if you wanted to get one and try it x

Our daughter has slept in a sleeping bag simce she was about 4 months. She’s a very acrobatic sleeper and moves all around her cot. She didn’t have any issues with rolling over and getting stuck. Maybe try it for their naps first to see how they are and to ease any worry for you?

My LG loves her sleeping bags, she doesn’t get a good nights sleep when we leave it off her (when it’s been really hot)

My LG has been rolling over in her sleep a lot this last week, I haven’t been worried 1 bit, she does it’s quietly and faces her face outwards. It’s always a worry when they roll over in bed and believe me I was the 1st time, but if baby is uncomfortable, they will let you know. x

I’ll be trying grobags when my little boy is big enough. For now I lightly swaddle him with his hands near his face (one arm always ‘escapes ‘ as that’s his sleeping position of choice) and put socks on him....socks were a game changer in terms of settling him. Each little one has their individual quirks and preferences 😂

Lilmossy profile image
Lilmossy in reply to

My little one always has her hand by her mouth n nose to sleep was the same on allll my scans 😂swaddling would get her frustrated as she couldn’t move her hands 😩😩

in reply toLilmossy

Same with him, the swaddling is very loose just enough to keep his elbows in contact with his body so his startle reflex doesn’t keep waking him up. He’s free to push his arms up and out if he really wants to and he generally does

My little one is 10 weeks old and the best sleep sac I have found is Love to dream swaddle he can still sleep with his arms in a natural up position like most babies sleep like that it’s dont wonders for him especially since he is a very colicky baby

Lilmossy profile image
Lilmossy in reply toJoey89

Thank you my little one was really colicky I used mam bottles an Colief drops in ever bottle that was a game changer Tommee Tippee bottles never helped her hope the colic goes soon for u both xx

I've just started looking into these and think I'd prefer to use one over blankets when my baby arrives. They don't seem restrictive to me at all and I like that there is no risk of it slipping off and the baby getting cold, or of the baby pulling it up over their face as they could potentially do with a blanket. Seems like it would be a good option for your baby if she wriggles around a lot. Both the NHS website and the Lullaby Trust say sleeping bags/sacks are fine.

My little boy is three months and has always been a massive wriggler and he loves to just lay there and kick so sleeping bags are ideal as they don't restict any movement and you haven't got to worry about the blanket going over their face. JoJo do one with sleeves which we started with as was more like a baby grow but now he's in normal ones. As someone said above Aldi have there baby event on and we got a really cute one with sloths on yesterday for £10 if you just wanted to try a cheaper one. My lb is just trying to roll over now. I have anxiety at night as it and constantly wake to check him so I can imagine it only gets worse when they roll x

My little ones at the rolling stage she rolled right over twice when I was doing her bum earlier I had to laugh I’ve had to get my Moses basket and put her in that rather than the next to me and she hasn’t rolled over in that which makes me feel more comfortable I went to the baby event today my partner rushed me though as I only wanted the cot bed mattress but ended up with bunny vests, and two pairs of pjs 😂😂 can’t help myself with buying she has too much 😩🤦🏻‍♀️ Will look n see if they have hem online and I’ll order some xx

I used a sleeping bag from about 8 months until my son was 1. You can use them for longer but my boy gets hot and bothered (he kicks his blankets off and fusses if you put it back on!).

I used the GroBag brand ad they were a gift, but then I also bought some from a supermarket too.

I think they're a really great idea as it stops the baby getting cold and waking up. Just make sure you get a season appropriate tog. You can also buy ones where they can have feet out/in, and with/without arms.

Thank you I have the fro egg 2 my bedrooms before baby was born was always 15.5 or 16 degrees now she’s her some reason it’s like 21+ Tried everything to cool it down nothing works 😩

Hi , personally I have never used them as I am afraid baby will get too hot. My girl who is a very warm child always kicks off her blankets and always has, ok sometimes I will wake and think is she cold and put it back on but if she does overheat she has the option to kick it off herself. Same as my newborn , I have just checked on him in his Moses basket and at just one week old has kicked off his blanket so I think he is too warm so I shall leave it off.

My sister has always used them though so maybe if your child feels the cold more they are good.

Lilmossy profile image
Lilmossy in reply toGeorgielouise

She wakes up kicks it off think she is finding her legs a bit more when I touch her she’s cold so I snuggle her warm her up and tuck her back in just think as she’s feeling things more might be an idea to get one just because of anxiety of her pulling it over her face or kicking it over her face x

My daughter was a very wiggly baby and kicked blankets off when tiny even though it was the middle of winter and she needed them. Sleepbags for us have been a godsend. Just dress the child right for the room temperature, you can do lots of combos depending on the weather with both the thicker and thinner bags. When it was really hot we just didn’t put it on and just put a sleepsuit on, no bodysuit x

P.s. I think I saw your other post about the rolling but it wasn’t clear why you wanted to stop it which is probably why people said what they did 😊 I can understand why you want to stop rolling in the night as it can be a worry, the sleep bag might actually help with that as the bottom is long and hard to flip over until they get stronger x

Lilmossy in reply toLovefood1984

Yeah I have the gro egg room temperature monitor feel like it’s a waste if I’m not using it with the togs and that and I got my Moses basket from down stairs an she Hasn’t rolled yet in that but she loves rolling on the floor on her play Matxx

I’ve used them since she was a week old as she was a very restless sleeper without. She had a grosnug to start with and then went onto Grobags iv never had any issue and have just ordered the next tog up for winter ☺️

Our twins have been in grobags since we stopped swaddling them in blankets (maybe 4 months). One is a proper acrobat but has always been totally fine. You just need to make sure her head can't fit through the neck of the grobag otherwise she might slide down. We used a cosy dream pillow on one twin for the first few months, as he would roll onto his front - that totally sorted it. Now they sleep all over the place! 😅 (but they're 11 months so doesn't really matter). It made such a difference putting them in grobags - we instantly noticed that they slept much better and were less restless.

I have used sleep bags for the last 2 months and so glad I did. I also suffer with anxiety and would just watch my LB sleep most of the time, he likes to do acrobatics once he does off and would constantly kick his lankets over his face or roll onto his front. I only use a 1 tog as hes quite a warm baby and just very his sleepwear depending on room temp. He sleeps better with the sleep bags, and still has plenty of room to wriggle in them, they're not restrictive at all. Just ensure you get the right size for your little one xx hope this helps xx

My little boy needed swaddling until he was about 5 months then had to change him to sleeping bags when he started rolling over. They’re really good for him now as there’s no way he would stay under a blanket (he’s 15 months and ends up all over the bed. The sleeping bag actually helps stop him putting his legs out between the bars of the cot).

Like others have said, as long as you make sure that the head hole isn’t too big, baby should be nice and safe. You’ll get used to what clothing you need to put under it to keep her at the right temperature.

Sleeping bags are brilliant. Wouldn’t be without mine x

If you buy an actual grobag bag, they come with a really handy card that tells you what your baby should sleep in at what temp. It's also here gro.co.uk/what-to-wear/. I love it!
