Hi, we will be moving a house in few weeks from Birmingham to ASHFORD so completely different region. When we move I will be 34 weeks pregnant and so far of course I have carry my pregnancy under the midwife in Birmingham and was registered for birth in the local hospital. Would any of you know how I would move my pregnancy to new location ? I want to make sure they have all my history and that I can register and see midwife as soon as possible there as will be quite late in pregnancy?

could you not speak to your midwife and ask about your notes and how you register for a new midwife at ashford.... or I know some place will refer you to a midwife in your new town x

Yeah will ask her next week as have a appt but when I had initial chat with her few weeks back she had no idea especially as the notes are now in the system rather then paper. She is quite useless to be honest and never seems to know anything.

could you not find the number for midwife down Ashford and ring them see what they say.... they might give you better advice x

I've just moved myself at 25 weeks, I didn't even move far Southend to Wickford but needed to register in this area as the midwife didn't support that far.

Contact the new hospital maternity unit asap and get booked in. Make sure you mention that this is urgent. I called them and got a call back the same day and was seen as quickly as they could. They might need to get you to do some blood tests with them because for some bizarre reason they sometimes don't use the same systems. I even had to switch my pregnancy notes which are different here.

Anyways, call up your new hospital maternity unit and get booked in. Bring all your old notes with you and if possible ask your current midwife to print out any blood results she's got got you.

Good luck with the move take it easy!

Hi, thank you I am awaiting for confirmation of my new address hopefully we will finalise next week then I will call nearest hospital as soon as possible.

In my area all the notes are electronic so I just needed to make an appointment with the new midwife and they could access my notes xxx

Talk to your midwife, I’m not in Ashford, but not far from. I had my LG under the same group of hospitals. They are excellent so you’ll be in good hands.

Also feel free to pm me if you have any questions about the area (can’t promise I can help but it’s a long way from Birmingham)

Hi Jessy, I realise this is a year old but I'm having the exact same predicament! I wondered how you'd got on or if you had any tips?

I'm moving from Birmingham to Worcester in 2 weeks time when I'll be 35 weeks pregnant. I spoke to my midwife today and she suggested ringing my new GP surgery to see if they would register me but I called them and won't until I've moved and I'll also need proof of address such a bill or council tax document 😭 Why can't things be easy?!

I'm going to speak to my current GP to see if I can at least get a referral to Worcester hospital as it's not far anyway. Hopefully they will let me switch pre-move.

Any advice from anyone else would be very gratefully received! We expected to have moved about a month ago but Covid seems to have slowed everything down xx

In this case, you will need to get the help of a moving company. The problem is that you will lose a lot of money and time if you will try to do this alone. Our company moved in another city because there we had more possibilities for growing and finding new clients. W had to transport all our personal things and our equipment to another city. I thought it will take at least a month to transport everything on such a big distance, but I was wrong. Our company used the service of a moving company that has done all the work in just two weeks.

Gosh what a time to be moving house! You will be going to the William Harvey Hospital. If you’re on Facebook there is a Facebook group called East Kent Hospitals Maternity, I imagine someone on there will be able to help. There is also a lot of nice posts on there from people who have delivered there which might be reassuring to read.

Just to say I'm 30 weeks pregnant and moving next week! Why do we do this to ourselves lol. My gp won't register me without paper work so I can't then get on the midwife books. I just plan to sort out ASAP after I move and hope for the best. I'm meant to have a scan 2 weeks after I move...
