now testing 4 times a day and adjusting my first to try and control my leavers but I can’t sort the mornings out supposed to be under 5.3 when I get up before breakfast but I’m struggling it’s always on or above this slightly and after breakfast it’s spiking to 8/9 tried all variants of breakfast but doesn’t seem to matter what I do lunch and dinner no probs always well under 7.8 as it should be .
Anyone else with this condition struggled in the mornings ?
I’m high risk for a few things my 4th regnant and I’m an older mum so really want to get this sorted to avoid any extra complications x

Hi, check out gestationaldiabetes.co.uk lots of really great advice on there!! In short, first thing in the morning levels are the trickiest to control, you can try a snack before bed (have a look on the website) but it may be that you need some medication to get them under control. Breakfast is trickiest meal, often had a to go quite low carb or even carb free.
I've got gestational diabetes abs have found that omlettes are good for me in the morning, I have them with a mix of tomatoes, mushroom, spinach and cheese and sometimes a bit of ham or bacon. This morning I had haddock and cheese omlettes. Other times I've had boiled eggs with cold meats. This has helped keep my levels really low in the morning. I tried wholewheat cereals, muesli & yogurt with fruit and brown toast but all these sent me over into the 8s so I don't have them now.
Thanks for your reply I have now cut cereal out altogether. I had fish yesterday and that was good I’m not a lover of eggs but I could eat an omelette I’ll give that a try. Thanks xx
