Hi everyone, I am collecting data about Gluten sensitivity/Coeliac and a possible connection between that and ICP or Obstetric Cholestasis of pregnancy, it seems there seem to be a fair few people affected by both.
If you would like to be included in a count (i.e. no names, no details other than just being counted in a total) of people affected by both for these - figures to be passed on to the Imperial College, London, ICP study, please let me know. The more positives we get, the more likely it will be that a study will begin on the connection between the two conditions, which could in turn save babies lives.
Thank you!

I am coeliac and am pregnant with my 3rd baby, never had ICP. I am 33 weeks today and 42 years old. I do stick to a very strict gf diet and am also allergic to oats. I ended up in hospital at 20 weeks with my oat allergy as accidentally ate something which was gf at a cafe but had oat flour in it. The baby was fine just me that was very sick and had to go on a drip. Other than that the pregnancy has been going well.
Hi Georgie. Thanks for letting me know. Sadly as you have not had ICP I can't include you in the count, but that is possibly because you are diligently gluten free. Have you always been gluten free whilst pregnant? Good luck with baby no. 3. It is really tricky with allergies and Coeliac isn't it?!
Yes I have , was diagnosed at 2 after many tests, I was a case project at Battle hospital Reading as it was quite unknown back then. Fortunately none of my children so far are coeliac .
Yes can be tricky with the oat allergy as its not included as being coeliac and lately a lot of shops have brought out gluten free foods made with oat flour. I tend to stick to fresh foods , fruit and veg, meat , can't go wrong then .
