Chronic MSK pain since childbirth

Did or does anyone else suffer from ongoing /long term pain in their joints since having their baby? I’m almost 18 weeks post partum and constantly have painful sore knees and feet - yes feet! The whole outside edge around my entire foot (both feet) aches, and the soles too mostly near my heels; particularly by bedtime and even more so when I get out of bed in the night or by morning. I can barely put my feet on the floor sometimes. And my knees ache all the time, I’m like an old woman going down the stairs. And getting up and down from the floor from playing with my baby is just hellish. I’m 37 but feel 57. It’s really getting me down. I’m 5 feet tall and baby is now 16lb - could it be this? I am reasonably fit and walk regularly with the pram as well as exercise classes couple times a week.

Help! Please tell me this is not forever x

Hi Mrs H I had this too after I had my son, my left knee in particular was so painful I couldn’t bend it properly! It got better when he was about six months old I think, I take a high dose of omega 3 now and I think that has helped too as I stopped recently for a couple of weeks (ran out) and it started feeling sore again... xxx

Aw I know it’s awful isn’t it... I went to my GP who sent me for an ultrasound on my knee to make sure there was no ligament damage etc and it was all fine. I think because I was so swollen at the end of my pregnancy (July baby in that hot summer we had last year 🥵) my body couldn’t cope! We are doing great thanks, he’s ten months old already I can’t believe it... he makes every second of our journey worthwhile, he has made us complete 💙💙💙

I have got very painful knees ... my lb 15 weeks old now and they seem to get worse... some days I find it hard to walk...I went to gp and she gave me co-codimal to aee if that helpa wirh pain but I got to go back as not worked. hope you get it sorted xxx

Sorry to hear how you are feeling 😩 I am also reassured that it’s not just me who feels like this! My little girl is 10.5 months and I still feel very stiff and sore getting out of bed each morning and it takes me a few minutes before I can actually walk, my feet are particularly sore. I didn’t know this was a thing so I’m glad you posted! X
