You can’t I guess if there’s no baby.

Well a Cryptic pregnancy is just one that's gone completely unnoticed, usually because the mother believes she is sterile and doesn't test, so their would usually be a natural delivery that comes completely by surprise. But if you've taken pregnancy tests and had scans that are negative then this would be a case of phantom pregnancy not cryptic. Phantom pregnancies are entirely psychosomatic, there is no baby to deliver so no delivery can take place.

Have you had any ultrasounds to determine if you are pregnant?

So maybe just maybe you're not pregnant?

Hi I am also new here

I had never heard of a cryptic pregnancy till this week and I am now scared out of my wits that it is happening to me. If so I would be 28/29 weeks. I know I sound crazy. 2 home pregnancy tests negative and 1 at gp surgery negative. Still having irregular bleeds. Had 2 scans this week which showed a tilted uterus but not pregnant. But now i have read that a tilted uterus may not show a baby on the scan but i find that hard to believe this far along in a pregnancy! I am so confused and scared I cannot eat or sleep. Got some feelings of movement but I suffer with Ibs so gp says its that. Gp wouldnt do blood test as says its no more reliable than a urine sample later in pregnancy. Don't know where to turn

I also have a tilted uterus and it makes it difficult for the sonographer to make out specific measurements on the baby, but they will easily be able to see the baby is there. Also once you get past around 16 weeks and baby gets bigger, your uterus pops forwards anyway so they would definitely be able to see something! Don’t panic!

I also have a tilted uterus and there's no mistaking I'm pregnant- even right from the start, every scan I've had there's no issue finding the baby, even with a tilted uterus the baby won't be that far away!

If they haven’t been able to see anything on a scan, I think it’s highly unlikely that you’re having a cryptic pregnancy, it’s more likely that it’s a phantom pregnancy, which is psychosomatic, however this isn’t a judgement on the woman suffering with it, there are many factors that can bring it on, including stress, it’s worth discussing this with your GP and getting the relevant mental health support to treat the condition so you can return back to your usual self.
