Exhausted

How do you cope with exhaustion in the first trimester? You're not supposed to tell anyone you're pregnant, yet apparently it's the hardest trimester (gosh I hope that's true)!

Fortunately I can use Flexi time and work from home. But I still had yesterday off sick as I was throwing up the night before... And I am having to pretend to friends, family and colleagues that I'm totally fine incase they suspect it's morning sickness ... Ahhh!

It is me that doesn't want to tell anyone until I'm 20 weeks, and my partner is very supportive of that. But it's so hard when I am too exhausted after 12 hours sleep to get up and have a shower.

There's not a lot you can do unfortunately. But if you can work from home as much as you can take it and take little naps when you need to. It does get a lot better. I luckily haven't suffered with any morning sickness yet and I'm 24wks but I can imagine that is adding to your tiredness. Good luck x

Omg that’s exactly how I feel!!!! 2 weeks of constant sickness (have no idea why they call it morning sickness) no energy what’s so ever , no appetite for any kind a food, and contestant pretending that you are fine !

Yes, exhaustion really kicked my butt in the first trimester too. I'm 15 weeks and only just starting to climb out of the hole. My best healthy recommendation is ensure you are getting a lot of sleep - like tucked up in bed by 9pm (or earlier!) And also try and sneak in a power nap during the day (lunch break?) If at all possible. My less healthy recommendations include soft drinks, chocolate, sweets as fuel - less intense amounts of caffeine but definitely give you a bit of power particularly for the afternoon. I sip one coke over the course of the afternoon and it definitely does help! Finally, I appreciate you don't want to tell people at work yet, but you could tell your line manager confidentially. That way s/he can better appreciate your situation and support you. I told mine when I was only 7 weeks and I'm really glad I did that. Hope your feel better soon!

I’ve got Hyperemesis, so extreme vomiting during pregnancy, I made it to four weeks before telling my parents and 6 weeks before telling the general population, it just depends on your own wishes and your circumstances x

Honestly hun it’s about just taking each day as it comes and pushing through!

If that’s what you want to do then that’s great!

I was like you, but unfortunately I had to tell work Due to working in retail and making me lift heavy stuff which was actually causing me to bleed...but I did let my manager know that I didn’t want anyone know and they respected that.

I had morning sickness badly and if your tired now, it most likely will get worse, it did for me, I had force myself out of bed every day in the end but did end up working until 6 days before having my beautiful princess 👸

Don’t forget your body is working overtime! I did find eating a chocolate bar here or some snacks that are really energy consuming helped, speak with your health visitor about maybe tea drinks with added vitamins, or even vitamins yourself as your iron levels may be low, I found that even folic acid helped and your GP can prescribe that, fingers crossed for you hun xx
