Hi folks

Did anyone have difficulty conceiving, when you finally did what was midwifery care like? Did they take over, where they preoccupied with formalities.

Did they appreciate how long you had waited. How many visits did you have?

NHS trusts have different policies so you can check with your local NHS trust to find out what to expect. I’m in east Kent and all this information is available on their website, but you can always contact them directly if you can’t find the information you’re looking for.

Are you pregnant now? In my experience all the midwives I’ve seen have been absolutely wonderful and really supportive. They don’t take over your pregnancy but they offer you lots of information and advice, make sure you’re healthy throughout your pregnancy and always available if you have any questions or concerns. I don’t think they will treat you any differently because you’ve had difficulties conceiving, unless the reason you had difficulties was due to a health issue which may impact your health during pregnancy. The NHS is far from perfect, but in my opinion under the care of NHS midwives is the best care you can be in!

We did and the midwife care was amazing! I have a dedicated me who was beyond brilliant and all the others I saw were fabulous and very understanding. My me for birth had actually struggled as well so she was very supportive. I certainly can't praise them enough from my experience. X

We had a missed misscarriage, an ectopic pregnancy and then after the ectopic couldn't concieve naturally due to my tubes so ended up having IVF so has taken us about 3 years, I've seen my midwife twice and am now 18 weeks.... If I'm totally honest it's all routine stuff I don't think they can do any extra, the only thing I have had extra is a consultant appointment, but I've been told an IVF pregnancy is a normal pregnancy, oh and my next midwife appointment is at 28 weeks so won't have a check for another 11 weeks but can obviously call if I have any issues. I'm not too bothered if I'm honest, I've got my own blood pressure measurer, glucose testing kit etc and Doppler, and been going for private scans so I've found the midwife appointments to be just a bit of a formality. They also refer you if you're considered high risk, but I don't think difficulty concieving makes you high risk xxxxxx
