Palpitations

7w 5th pregnancy I’m constantly having palpitation like feeling and sometimes can feel my heart beating strong through my body when I’m lying in bed. Anyone had this?

Palpitations are fairly normal in pregnancy according to the nhs website but if you get lots of breathlessness, feeling cold etc then can be a sign of low iron, you could try taking a gentle supplement such as spatone.

No nothing like that just feels like I miss a breath like a flip happening in my chest

Sounds pretty normal but mention to your midwife at your booking appointment x

Ask them to do a full blood count. They’ll do it at 12 weeks anyway but if you say you think you might be anaemic they should check before then. Sounds like possible low iron. I had it but ignored it thinking it was normal with my first pregnancy and ended up hospitalised with severe anaemia for two weeks and had to have a iron infusion. Xx

My midwife told me there’s very little iron in the vitamins compared to the iron tablets that they’d give you for anemia.

I do have other iron tablets I got when I was mc I took them on and off for 3 mths. I’ve had multiple blood tests in the last 18 mths nothing has been said but I’ll mention it I was thinking could it be more blood pressure?

Low iron can happen pretty quickly especially in pregnancy. I went from having normal levels to being critical in a matter of weeks. Yeah I think low blood pressure can cause palpitations but it’s not as common a symptom. The most common symptoms are lightheadedness, dizziness, blurred vision, feeling weak, confusion and fainting. Palpitations can just happen because of the hormones in pregnancy but definitely see your midwife about it, ask her to check your urine, bloods and blood pressure. Xx

Just an update I miscarried had a mva yesterday the palpitations have gone I did have abit high blood pressure at yesterday appointment but was fine when I left. Maybe it was because something was wrong.
