Hi! Can anyone tell me is there a possibility that mother's milk is not good? My baby is poor weight gain. But has lots of wet nappies and now one dirty per day. He is 16 weeks old.

If you have a local breastfeeding cafe you could attend or an Infant feeding team they may be able to help you with feeding information to ensure baby is feeding well/efficiently. Lots of wet nappies and one dirty nappy means milk must be going in to be coming out. Go onto the ABM website for great feeding support. They also have a helpline 9.30 till 9.30 every day so give them a call for some really helpful information on feeding etc. If you’re really concerned to see your GP or health visitor. Wishing you every success.

Your milk is tailor made to your babies needs. It absolutly CAN NOT be bad for your baby. As long as baby is getting a minimise of 4 wet nappies in 24 hours and meeting all the necessary milestones I wouldn't worry about weight too much.

Has baby been assessed for tongue and lip ties? By someone qualified to do so? That would be a reason for slow gain. They are actually really common but overlooked by a lot of doctors and midwives as it isnt their area of expertise.

Also, regardless of what you may have been told, or may be told, your milk is perfect and you are enough. Your local breastfeeding support group will have someone trained to look at your babies mouth xx
