Early pregnancy pain

Hi few days ago we have fund out we are pregnant, which is fantastic news! This is our 1st baby and 2nd pregnancy as the first one has end up with missed miscarriage. At the time of miscarriage the scan also fund big cyst on my left ovary and as it took 4 weeks to get an appt with specialist due to the size of the cyst my ovary has twisted and had to be removed. Since we have fund out we are pregnant I am terrified not only for MC but also that the same story will happen again, however this time if I loose 2nd ovary it is game over for us. I am experiencing some pains at the lower part of my belly at the left side, I went to the GP but they said I have to wait till at least 6 weeks to do the scan. I know some of the pains are normal during pregnancy and I might be over reacting but I am very worried. The pain is on a mild side and comes and goes. Has anyone experienced something similar and have any idea what this pain might mean?

Hi,

I had similar pains at 4 weeks, and was concerned due to also having a previous missed miscarriage. The GP referred me to the early pregnancy clinic and I had a scan at approximately 5 weeks, which showed evidence of pregnancy but it was too early to tell if it was going to be viable. I then had another scan at 6 weeks and then 8 weeks and both showed a heartbeat. The early scan may not show anything but all scans helped to reassure me that the pregnancy was heading in the right direction. Hope this helps!

The GP said to wait until 6 weeks, so going back next week and hoping to get the scan booked.

You are right scan won’t help if something is wrong but will provide some assurance. It is the wait and not knowing that is killing me right now. I guess once someone had MC there is no chance for stress free pregnancy lol

I know the feeling, I am about to have my 12 week scan tomorrow and I am still worried that something will go wrong, despite having consistent nausea and vomiting since week 6. Hopefully once we get passed the dating scan, it will help us to relax a bit more and enjoy being pregnant :). I occasionally have stomach pains now, however the GP suspects it could be growing pains as they aren’t constant.
