Normal uk pregnancy is a midwife appointment should be booked for around 10 weeks with the scan around 12 weeks. After the midwife appointment Is when the scan comes through

I had my booking appointment at about 8 weeks and arranged the 12 week scan appointment on the way out, so I could book it to fit around work rather than just being told. Made 20 week scan appt at the same time. Same with 16 week midwife appointment- I just called in at my doctors and made it to fit in with when I could go.

Because I was unsure on dates they got me in within a week for a dating scan, which I’m glad they did because I was an extra two and half weeks further than I thought!

Midwife will normally see you around 8-10 weeks. I was seen at 9 weeks. They often do the booking for the scan at this appointment with you (mine tried and had to get back to me within a few days as she couldn’t get through to the department). So I had about 3 weeks notice as I had my scan at 12 weeks. First scan can be done anytime between 10-14 weeks but is normally around 12 weeks as it’s easier to accurately date the pregnancy and it also gives you the option of the blood test for Down’s syndrome if you want to know the risk factor. I have then had to contact my midwife directly to arrange my next appointment at 16 weeks. The hospital has arranged my 20 week scan and sent me the letter when I was 13 weeks. Different parts of the U.K. do things differently though so it’s worth discussing with your Midwife or doctor.
