Baby won't sleep in her Moses

Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone has any advice to get my LG To sleep in her Moses basket. She's nearly 4 weeks old and I've tried everything.

I've rolled up blankets and wrapped them round the sides of the Moses basket in case she doesn't like all the space, I've put my partners t-shirt in there so she can smell us, taken the Moses off the rocking stand and just olaced it on the floor in case it's that, swaddles her, given her no blankets, tried a warmer room, filling her up more with an extra ounce before bed.... nothing works.

My partner suggested bringing the bouncer to bed last night and seeing if she would sleep in that and after much persuadal from him I said yes (please no lectures on how it's unsafe I did loads and loads of research before I put her in it and no the risks but it was safer than putting her in with us). She slept all night in the bouncer, and went straight back down after her feed yet tonight in the Moses basket where back to the same screaming until I take her out of it. If i let her in our bed or on my partners chest she falls straight to sleep but I don't want her in our bed. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you 😀😀

This sounds exactly like my first child. He would not sleep in it and if he did it was for 30 mins max!! We moved him to a travel cot thinking it might help, it didn’t. We raised his basket slightly too. We also had him sleep in a bouncer a few times as I was getting depressed due to tiredness. A health visitor told me to sit upright in a chair with him in a baby carrier. She stressed it was not ideal and I shouldn’t go to sleep with him but I was that exhausted I needed something a bit more secure (I kept falling asleep with him in on me in bed). We found that he slept better on his front and started doing that quite early. I had a sensor mat, which gave me some comfort. I know that doesn’t really help but I promise it gets better and i know exactly how you feel. You’re doing a fab job! X

I hate to say it cause I hated people saying it when my little boy was little but it's perseverance! My little boy snoozed happily on me or anyone else, snoozed lovely in his car seat but hated his swinging crib and the Moses. In the end I found he didn't like being flat on his back and I used to put him on his side with a rolled up towel down his back and one in front of him from the middle on his chest down wards (not in front of his face) and it took two days of sitting chatting to him while rubbing his back till he went to sleep in it willingly. I also found that a hot water bottle in the bed before he went in it (warm water bottle under the blankets taken out before he goes in) so that it's all warm and snuggly but not hot. That helped keep him settled. Good luck x

Put a hot water bottle in it first so it’s toasty warm when you put them in. We had the same problem and it worked first time! Good lucK! X

Thank you guys. I'm defiantly going to try the hot water bottle tonight and see if that makes a difference. She does prefer been on her front as as soon as I put her on her dads chest that way she sleeps but I'm a nervous wreck about letting her sleep on her front in case she suffocates. Yoh hear all these horror stories about cot death and things I just don't think I'd sleep. But as one of yoh mentioned it's so dangerous her falling asleep in our bed x

I k ow how you feel my daughter was the same Moses basket never slept in it. Tried everything my clothes, Muslin with breast milk warm blanket etc etc. she'd sleep

In my arms out her down bam starts crying. Even bought a different cot. We ended up co sleeping which was terrifying. I'd like to say I found a solution to it but I didn't! Eventually several months later she started sleeping in her cot (after sleeping training) but at 4w she's probably too young for that. Best of luck!

I feel like a whole new person lol. She slept like a dream. I put a hot water bottle in an hour before we put her down and swaddled her really tight. Put her in half asleep rather than fully asleep and she took herself off to sleep after about 15 mins. Woke up once for a feed and went back down straight after till 10 am. Thank you so much x

Oh I’m so happy it worked for you! I remember texting my friend in a tired desperate state and she recommended a hot water bottle. I wanted to snog her face off the next day. We had to do that for the first couple of months and then she grew out of it. I’m pregnant with number two and the hot water bottle is here waiting for it’s arrival! :) x

I've never been so happy lol! I was literally a zombie, I'd had 4 weeks of little to no sleep. I thought I'd been dreaming when I woke up this morning and I'd slept though. I woke up twice to check on her I thought it was too good to be true 😂 Congratulations !! When are you due? Xx

Glad shes sleeping for you now, but i just wanted to note that what the health visitors wont tell you is that even though newborns cant hold their heads for long if at all, if you place them front down on a flat surface they will turn their heads auto matically, well most of them. , my aunt is a health visitor and my son wouldnt sleep on his back at all. I was so tired, she told me about it and while we were all wide awake so was baby she showed me and they will do its a natural response. Baby's brain isnt fully developed but the central core of their brain is, thats what keeps them running and all of the hings they do are simply automatic responses, even turning towards sound is. My son is nine months old and now spend half his time asleep on his back other half on his front knees tucked up under him, cant stop him now cos he just rolls back over if he doesnt wanna be on his back lol
