Scan

Hi ladies,

I've had 2 scans, one at 8 weeks, everything was perfect and from the size I was right on track. I had another scan today, I'm 10 weeks but the Doc says from the size on the scan I'm 11 weeks 3 days, can there be that much of a change in 2 weeks. I have both scans and there's almost a 2 week difference in due dates. Is this normal?

An 8 week scan is pretty unreliable for dating. In general they use a 12 weeks scan for dating... I assume yours was at 10weeks instead.

To be honest 8 days doesn't make much of a difference as full term babies come along at any time from 37 -42weeks!

They are trying to measure something quite small so errors can be introduced that way. As you get further along the 12 week and 20week scan will give you more reliable dates.

Thank you for the replies, I have another scan at 22 weeks so hopefully I'll get a better idea of dates then. Hope all is going well with ye 😊

My scan dates have put me back during my first pregnancy and forward during my second lol. I had an early scan with my first pregnancy which put me at 7 weeks but at my dating scan I was put forward a week. Both babies were late anyway!
