Hi Lucy. Have you had any investigations into your miscarriages?

lucyashford1997 profile image
lucyashford1997 in reply toOliversmum

Yes they said my body wasn't ready and that and even if I didn't have a miscarriage they would of been early or late and but into baby care cause they would be seriously ill and that so that's why I'm so nervous and scared I'll loose this baby too

I'm sorry not sure if I understand. When you say your body isn't ready. Do you have an underlying illness?

I know how scary a pregnancy after miscarriages can be - let alone 8. If you dr has previously done all of the tests, thyroid, hormones, clotting screens etc and these have all come back clear. hopefully this is your time, and everything will go well. I would say visit your dr /midwife regularly. They will understandyour anxiety and want to ease that for you.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Try and stay positive- listen to your body.

Hi Lucy being 20 isn't a reason for your body to have 8 miscarriages. After 3 miscarriages you should be referred to a fertility specialist. There is obviously a reason why this is happening and it's not your age. Have they tested you for things like blood clotting disorders for example?

I have been tested and they sed cause of my age my body wasn't ready to carry a baby plus I wasn't eating for two I was just eating for myself so that's probably why

20 is not too young to have children, unless the miscarriages happened a while ago? Also eating for two is a myth. You don't need to eat for two as long as you are eating healthily for one. Is there a chance you might have an eating disorder? Is it something that maybe needs to be tackled?

Omg you don't need to eat for two! You need to eat and extra 200- 300 calories in the last trimester only whichave is equivalent to 2 tof 3 slices of bread!

Yes you don't need to eat for two! Women who are very sick carry healthy babies.

What exactly have you had tests for and by whom?

Who has said this to you? They are talking rubbish. You need to be referred to a fertility person in the hospital.

I have to agree with a lot of the other comments I have read so far. Age isnt really a reason, I had my first child at 18 and I know plenty of people that have had children younger! I would suggest that maybe you find another health care professional to discuss your situation with to get a second opinion.

Also eating for 2 is a myth I am now 20 weeks pregnant with my second child and for the last three years I have been suffering with an eating disorder which has seen me barely eat for 1 let alone 2 and the doctors are very happy with my progress I am being monitored regularly and I am following a plan that we put together to make sure my pregnancy is healthy as possible.

Fingers crossed for you that this pregnancy progresses normally and you have a healthy baby but should the unfortunate happen again I would get a doctor to give me a refferal to the fertility team so they could test you and maybe give you some more insight into what is going on :)

Eating for 2 is a myth. Where did women who are very sick have healthy babies come from? That's utter rubbish. Make sure you are eating healthy, for yourself and drink plenty of water. Try not to stress yourself out too much. Hopefully the midwife appointment put your mind at ease

I just read this and can't believe what you have been told, it's not acceptable at all by them. I have had 7 miscarriages altogether and they didn't do any investigations. Found out years later I had a thyroid disorder which causes them if your thyroid hormone is so low. There is usually something physical going on you are not aware of. It can be many many things x

Hopefully you will be okay this time but before you try for another baby please check with a dr that you are healthy enough.

Don't drink alcohol, don't smoke even passively, exercise regularly, get as fit and strong as you can BEFORE you get pregnant. Ask for a pre pregnancy blood test and take folic acid for 3 months before getting pregnant and until at least week 12 of pregnancy.

Lucy I do understand you are fear! I have miscarried four sets of twins. I also have had 3 successful pregnancies. With each am I successful pregnancies I have had to undergo surgery and received a cerclage to tie my cervix closed. I was also put on strict bed rest and I used red raspberry herbs and red raspberry herbal tea to stop the premature bleeding and contractions. This work for me. Try not to stress yourself out because of stress will only complicate the pregnancy. It is very important for you not to get upset or stressed out at this time over anything! Keep your feet elevated and hire someone to come and clean the house for you. Do not lift anything heavy make sure you eat well and get a few book that will help you understand healthy herbal remedies to have a healthy successful pregnancy. I crochet throughout my entire pregnancy I made everything from this sweater and booties blankets and even a Moses basket! Go get a few crossword puzzles, a few healthy snacks and some miniature hundred percent fruit juice. You may want to invest in a mini refrigerator for your bedroom so that you won't have to go very far to get your snacks. If you can make it to at least 26 weeks you are in the safety zone. And get on a prayer list! Good luck and God bless you and your little miracle growing inside of you!
