Early private scan!!!! 7 weeks measuring! No detail pole detected.

I am meant to be 7 weeks pregnant + 4 days. I have just been for a private early scan and they could see the sac and yolk sac but no feral pole. I'm worried. The sonograph kept telling me my bladder was not full and sent me away 2 times to get my bladder fuller however the final time I went in that's all they could see was the sac and yolk sac said it looks like a normal pregnancy and it's measuring at 7 weeks 2.4mm.

Just really worried if anyone can shine a light on their early scan or experience it would be much appreciated just worried and scared!! hoping everything will be fine got to see my doctor today to be booked in for an internal scan just worried!!!! Any ideas or help?!!!

Sorry to hear that, I have had four Dds, 1Mc and never heard of that. Normally they should explain properly what it means. You are better off waiting for another Scan and hopefully as time passes, things will look more clear. Wishing you all the best

Thanks for the reply, I just been docs and got to wait for my midwife now as it's the first time I went doctors.. Ain't got an appointment till 12th July. & thankyou hopefully as time goes by might be some good news (y)

I tried to send a link but couldn't, I went on google and typed in No detail Pole detected Scan and there is some info there from Mums who have been told the same, esp in What to expect, have a look when you get a chance

I would ask to be sent to the early pregnancy unit... It could be a miscarriage but maybe (and hopefully) dates are quite right and it's too early to see the pole. They should rescan you to see if there's any change.

How do I go about that? I have not yet seen my midwife as it was a private scan and the midwife has to book you for a scan? Thanks

I seen my gp yesterday and yes I am in the uk however she just photos copied the report from the scan and booked me to see my midwife in July and that's all!! So I will have to just wait...

If you're not happy with that I would go back to the gp. Just ask for clarification why the foetal pole isn't seen. And why you can't get scanned before July (you will see the midwife doesn't mean you get a scan) Could they see a heart beat? Personally I wouldn't want to wait that long. I know there's isn't anything they can do, but it's nice to know where you stand.

Hi. Dont worry. I had scan 3 days ago. I tot i was 6 weeks 3 days but my doc said i am only 5.5 which i know isnt right. My lil baby is 2 mm long nd has 114 heart beats per minute. Sometimes at the behinning baby is smaller nd it doesnt mean something is wrong stay positive. Did u hear heartbeat ?

They could not see the embryo or fetal pole but it may be that I am early or that it's going to be another mmc? I got to see midwife in July and then a scan as this one was paid for privately all they gave me was a report.

If you had to have a full bladder, it sounds like they did an external scan across your tummy? In my experience, an early scan like this is always done internally as it's too early to see things properly if it's done abdominally. Did they try both methods or just the abdominal scan? Maybe ask them to rescan as it may not have been accurately done.

It was just the scan across my tummy and they never offered me a re scan in a week or so or nothing so in waiting now to see my midwife..

I wouldn't go back privately, to be honest I don't think they handled it very well. Still as tlove said an abdominal scan is not as good at detecting things so early on. It is up to you if you want to wait till July for the midwife (the midwife will not scan you that day tho) or if you want to be scanned earlier.

Good thing is doesn't sound like you had any bleeding or pain.

I know but not sure how to get an early scan without going privately again... I have had some pain like cramps but only for a slight second and people say it's your body growing and adjusting to the pregnancy so I'm not sure..

If you phone your local maternity hospital and ask for the early pregnancy support units number they may be able to scan u sooner and give u some reassurance,

Usually they would check your pregnancy hormone levels and arrange a scan for the following week 😕

Hi mummytintin can they actually do that? I don't want to wait it out till July in all fairness because I need to have some reassurance waiting is horrible.

Cramps for a second are not an issue. However if I were in your position I would want an earlier scan. If you contact your early pregnancy unit you can try that, but some hospitals if only take referral from the gp. And I know you've seen the gp but u would make it very clear to the gp that you are concerned about the previous scan results. If they say no I would ask if it is normal not to see a foetal pole or heart beat at 7 weeks. Because you should. (The issue might be that it wasn't a vaginal scan or your dates might be off). I really think the place you had this private scan handled it very poorly and yes I would complain to them as they should have given you advice on what to do not leave you with an ambiguous result which means nothing to you! It's ok to say you're not happy!

Yeah, I had an early scan at 6+5 and only thing visible was the yoke and sac,they took bloods and had me came back the week after to rescan, second scan all was well, now 12+1 😉 x
