I can't get a 28wk apt with midwife, the local maternity hospital staff were really unhelpful. Is it important & what can I do?
If you're feeling well and have no concerns then I wouldn't worry about it. Find out when you can next get an appointment and hopefully it won't be too long. Good luck x
If you've got any concerns about the care you're receiving, ask the hospital to speak to the supervisor of midwives. Is it your first baby?
Yes its my first, the father is going to try and book all future appointments as it leaves me stressed and very upset. It already states in my notes I'm anxious. I feel so let down.
That's rotten. Don't worry about it, get booked in for when they do have an appointment, different areas do appointments at different weeks, so it's not the end of the world. At the appointment they would measure your stomach (to check the size of your uterus), check your blood pressure, check a urine sample, check baby's heartbeat and chat about how you feel you're doing.
Try contacting your local NCT branch, ask if there's anyone you can talk to, a bumps and babes group, I set up a pudding club for pregnant ladies in my area (St Neots), for mums to be to get together and chat about how they're getting on, any worries they have, see if your local branch has anything like that.
Definitely get the father to contact the Supervisor of Midwives and get him to emphasise your anxiety.
Have you booked to do any antenatal classes? Have you heard of hypnobirthing? I did a hypnobirthing course and it made me feel much more confident about what I was doing.
It sucks. But it happens. It's happened with a lot of my appointments. As Lovestar said, if you're feeling generally well, then just book for the next available time - from what I remember, the 28 week is a general check up -urine, blood pressure, bump etc. I think I spoke to my midwife about what to write in a birth plan, too.
Hope you get an appointment soon X
