I had 2 sections, first emergency, second planned. Currently 28 weeks with 3rd and booked in provisionally for section at 39 weeks. My first i was up next day ( afternoon delivery) and was in some pain but took painkillers every 10 hrs or so just to ease it, not a big lover of pain relieve but i wanted something to take the edge off. Best to get has much rest has possible. My wound opened after about a week so it did take me longer to fully recover. My second was morning delivery but due to sickness couldn't get up until next day, ( catheter and drip was still attached), but i felt a lot better afterwards then the first one. My wound did open again but that is just my body, but because i already had a child i wanted to be up and about more quicker than the first. I was back on the school run a week after he was born, which is a 10 minute walk.but i did feel ok. This time i am praying my body goes into.labour itself but i doubt it.very much, i would rather not have a section just because my son is now 2 yrs old, and very boisterous but i think.i Will.need to have one, all depends on my gestational diabetes, if baby gets too big. Good luck.with your section, it is pretty relaxed and the team normally tell you what is happening. Xx

Thanks, sounds not too bad. This is my first so no other children to worry about, just a very naughty dog, but I'm sure he'll be fine! X

I wouldn't say a section is the easy option to child birth. natural recovery is generally a few days, 1 day in hospital ( im sure there's ladies out there who took longer ) . Section is at least 2 days in hospital and 6 week recovery ! I was up and walking within 24hrs but delicate.

I was on paracetamol every 4 hrs with an antiinflamatory and ibupofen for inbetween if I needed more, i would say i have a generally high pain threshold! Everyone i know who had a section was given morphine after, but I breastfed and was never offered this.

It will hurt to cough, laugh, hoover, carry/move Moses basket etc and 2 pull urself up and down for the 1st few weeks, my scar was kind of number for months ( weird feeling )

The 1st time and went out after was about 2 weeks later and was a 30 min walk pushing the pram and i was in pain and exhausted when we got there , it hurt to pull the pram up and down curbs but as i missed out on lots of 1st ( nappy, Dress, carry out of hospital , bath ) i was determined to do everything i could.

I found a good strong baby change table a must , could not recommend enough ( didnt get 1 untill after baby as i was emergency c)

It is a major surgery so dont think u will b come out skipping and dancing, the whole procedure takes about an hr although the baby's out pretty fast.

Im not trying to scare u, just dont want u thinking it's a walk in the Park, also been told planned r a lot better than emergency, dont know if it's cos u go in knowing what to expect as these were all after emergency 1st.

U will b fine and it's totally worth it :) best of luck

I had emergency c section with first. Operation was at lunchtime and i was up walking the next morning. Having said that i had a lot of pain and discomfort for 6 months following which gradually got better over that period. I now have 3 weeks to go before my due date with my second and desperately dont want another op. With a nearly 2 year old to look after i just cant be out of action for any period of time. With your first at least you wont have to worry about looking after other children etc and everyone recovers differently.

Wishing you all the best of luck.

Thanks guys, what sort of pain relief can I take while breast feeding? X

Hi, they give you pain relief after you c-section to take home. Took me 8weeks to recover and I did it all on my own due to partner being in college and mum at work so that might have delayed my recovery. Was a little slow gettijng around but with painkillers it wasn't that bad :-) good luck!x

I was given paracetamol and ibrufen, but that was my second which was planned and i didn't breastfeed. Can't remember with my first, sorry. With a planned it isn't rushed, because no emergency. I think you can ask for your own music, but not 100% sure on that one. The only thing i Will advice is listen to your body, has it does take a while to recover. I think i have a high threshold barrier has well i have a friends who have had planned sections and were always asking for more pain relieve or had morphine, i wasn't offered either of mine but i didn't always ask for pain relieve, i waited as.long as i could go. All the best with.your section. xx
