My LO 6 wks now and would like to get his hand and feet prints before they become any bigger - they huge already! Any advice on what kind of paint to use? Safe and easy to clean off x

Hello :) im a childminder and paints from places like the early learning centre should be ok, I've never seen them cause an issue with children's skin- although I've never used them with a 6 week old baby. A lot say they are washable but can still be tricky to clean off, so I squeeze a blob of washing up liquid or baby bubble bath in with the paint- makes washing off so much easier xx

the baby bubble bath sounds a very good idea thanks. Was considering leaving until he was older, but OMG he is getting so big, especially his hands and feet, we contemplating how to fit the cot in our room because he is almost the length of his moses basket now! a few more weeks and he won't fit x

Awwww they grow far too fast don't they, every moment & mile stone is so precious. Hehe when I brought my Moses basket home, my OH says "that will do for the first year then?" errrr no lol

I know, knew wouldn't be in long but was hoping would be a little longer. My OH did that with nappies, thought one pack ( a small one) would last the first week... he's learnt since! Only thing is he's getting so heavy for feeding, not sure how much longer will be able to keep up BF but we've got this far so hopefully a little longer x

Wait until your LO hit's 18 weeks - so glad mine is 50th centile and no more: feeding him is like weight lifting! Plus he's getting to that distractible stage now... :-/

He already gets distracted lol, usually by his hand which he insists on putting in the way x

Sam used to do that - boys are stupid ;-p

It's full on distraction now - any noise, smell, light etc and he needs to know what's going on. This usually involves moving his head at great speed without letting go of my nipple... :-/

owie def sure want that to happen. boys are stupid lol. John isn't really interested in hats going on but takes everything in. He could sleep through a storm but if I'm speaking to someone not him then he's suddenly the most alert little boy in the world x

We've tried hand and foot prints twice - at 4 weeks and 3 months... We have lovely footprints...

We bought a kit with paint and a couple of canvases - not 100% sure where we got them from, might have been mothercare/elc or M&S x

in reply to DrFluffy

I wanna do that at 3 months :-)

We gonna do again, not sure when. Lol wondering how we are going to get him to give us nice hand prints cutting his nails takes both of us x

in reply to joda

Haha! It's so hard when they wriggle!! I do it on my own coz someone else helping would irritate me! x

On one of the canvases we did a 3 month handprint in one corner, and were going to do the same at 6, 9 and 12 months :-)
