Argh! Baby still comfortably (?) tucked up in my belly! I feel exhausted physically and mentally now. I've been getting bouts of strong Braxton hicks for a couple of weeks including some at night along with backache and period type pains + increased discharge & blocked nose.
Saw the midwife on Wed who said signs are encouraging and she thought baby would be here by the weekend but he/she is hanging on in there. I'm booked for stretch & sweep on Mon morning which I'm not especially looking forward to, but maybe will get things moving. Otherwise it'll be induction at the end of next week
On the plus side baby seems to be thriving and had a growth spurt between 39 & 40 weeks so it seems that baby is at least benefitting from and extended stay!

I was thinking about you this morning Dozymum, hoping you'd had a bit more luck with encouraging baby out than I have, from the sounds of things we are very much in the same uncomfortable boat! I had an antenatal appt yesterday where midwife attempted a sweep - I was beyond disappointed to hear that although my cervix is soft, it's still posterior and closed so she's having another bash on Sunday (obviously I'm really excited at the prospect )
Like you, I'm having loads of quite intense tightenings, cramps and backache and midwife is convinced that as I went into labour spontaneously last time that I will again - I'm clinging on to that shred of hope!
Take it as easy as you can, it's not easy being this pregnant. Looking forward to hearing your birth announcement very soon (and I promise not to be too bitter if yours comes before mine!) not long now x
Ah looks like our babies are trying to outdo each other in lateness!
Really hope they both decide to come soon and looking forward to your news as well. Maybe this sweep will do the trick. My midwife didn't want to give it a try Wed as baby wasn't 100% engagaged...
Good luck x
Hi hun
As much as I do sympathise with you & how you may be feeling right now im actually a bit happy as im now 35wks pregnant with my 2nd child & ive been getting what feels like regular braxton hic pains (usually at night) & to top it all off all ive been hearing about is the new arrivals of babies in the last few hours.
Im sure you're definitely not far off the big day now but im must admit its nice to hear from someone who is feeling the same as me right now!!
