I guess it depends on the type of labour your thinking of going to have?

With most "vaginal births" assuming everything went fine ( as expected) you could be going home in the next following hours or the next day.

If you are going into hospital for a C-Sec "for etc.... it might be worth carrying the breast pump as you may find yourself in hospital for a few days.

You probably won't need it in hospital. Your milk will take 3-5 days to come in and expressing colostrum with a pump would be impossible due to it's small volume (much better for baby to suckle, or if you can't BF, hand express onto a tea spoon) xx

My sister did this and was given an electric pump to use whilst in hospital as soon as she got on to the ward x
