Hi all, any helpfull tips on what to pack for mum & baby in hospital bag?
Both the bounty and boots websites have great lists, inc no of baby grows, vests etc a new born needs in 24 hours!
For baby Baby grows (a few) vests (a few) lots of nappies & fragrance free wipes.
For you Magazines, books, music, clothes, PJs, food food food for you and your partner (I just took ritz & choc hobnobs), soft drinks not fizzy as will make you want to barf if in labour, plenty (and I mean plenty) of maternity pads, big knickers, hair brush, bobble & Toiletries, oh yeah phone charger. Cant think of anything else, my sisters husband nearly missed the birth of there son as he went down to get something to eat thats why I said food so he has got no excuse.
At home though I would put your clothes that you want to wear when you leave the hospital as I would dreed to think what my husband would have chosen for me to come out in. Saves putting it in your bag as he will be making a trip home after the baby is born & a little pile of clothes for the baby incase you are in for longer than you will think as men can be pretty usless at chosing important things.
I had only put a few days worth of clothes in for baby when I had my 2nd and was in for 5 days so plan ahead.
I'd pack 2 different sizes in the baby vests and grows, I was told I was having a big baby so only packed 0-3 clothes and had to send partner home for smaller ones when baby was only small, I'd pack cotton wool as well hospital was funny about giving me some, other than that I think megzey has listed the rest x
Here are what I wish I'd taken/couldn't have done without during my last labour;
Lucozade & sweeties for during labour
Slippers
Headband (if my fringe had fallen in my eyes once more I was going to chop it off!)
Lip balm - gas and air dries them out terribly
Shampoo & conditioner especially if you're planning on a water birth
Loads of maternity & breast pads
Nursing bra
Loads of big knickers
Comfy clothes for going home in (think joggers not jeans)
Get your hubby to pack a dad bag with snacks/books/ipad/whatever will keep him occupied!
Vests/sleep suits/mittens/hats/socks/something warm to travel in/blankets in a range of sizes
Make sure dad knows how to fit the car seat!
Packing the bag means the finish line is in sight, good luck!
