Florajen Probiotic

I recently had my annual physical exam for anal cancer that was diagnosed in 2017. Good news! Still NED!

The surgeon who performed the exam recommended something that has helped with diarrhea and thus the incontinence that goes along with it. A probiotic called Florajen.

The key word is helped. I haven't had as many accidents as before, but it still happens. I just wanted to share this with any of you that are interested.

Yes, thanks for the info, will look it up. I'm confused about probiotics as I have read that with SIBO they can help, but also may make things worse!! Think it depends which type of SIBO someone has....

It confuses me too. I wasn't sure if I should take it but I eventually decided to give it a try. My doc said to give it at least 30 days. I've been on it about 3 weeks. Hopefully it continues to help.

Hi Thank you for this info. I was also diagnosed and treated for anal cancer in 2017. I have only recently joined this site but it is so amazing to be able to share with others. Do you know were you get Florajen? I wonder if other probiotics such as Kefir from the supermarket do the same thing?

Hi! Florajen is kept refrigerated. I get it from a pharmacy but it does not require a prescription. It was $20 for a 30 day supply. Pricey, but if it helps even a little, it'll be worth it to me. 😊

Thank you Yellow-Butterfly for the tip, I’m in the UK but going to find it or its equivalent. Another tip is always take your probiotic with a prebiotic (PRObiotics need to feed on PREbiotics to work!). Also don’t drink hot drinks for 30 mins after or it will ruin the probiotics before they get to the right place! Ideally take on an empty tummy 30 mins before food.

I truly think helping our gut microbiome will help us all greatly! Any fermented foods like Kefir etc are fabulous for our gut health and micro biome which in turn can help all parts of the body.

Which one of the Florijen products do you take? I see several. One is both a pre and probiotic. Thanks

This is on the bottle: Florajen Digestion Multiculture Probiotic Supplement 15 billion live cultures per capsule

I see that and also see one that says

Florajen Women's Vaginal Probiotic, Prebiotic, & Cranberry Supplement for Immune Support and Digestive Health, 45 Capsules wondering if that would be good also? And another says Probiotics for Women - PH Balance, Digestive, UT, & Feminine Health - 50 Billion CFU - 6 Unique Strains for Women

Thoughts on these?

Thanks!

I've only tried the one, and I didn't realize there were so many different options. I'm really happy with the one I'm taking now, but some of the others sound good too. I may have to give them a try. Thank you!!
