Is your incontinence urinary or faecal? Or both?

it’s urinary was really bad after surgery but two years later had sling operation which was brilliant. Had that fitted 2022 then unfortunately psa went up and had to have radiotherapy and hormone therapy dec 2022 I’m really hoping it’s going to stop in near future I’m told it should but still worried in case it doesn’t.

Hi. I’ve had a similar treatment regime to you, with the addition of chemo, and I was told that side-effects within nine weeks or so of treatment are expected (and vary from person to person - mine were more bowel related). That’s what happened, but I have had longer term urinary effects, which I can usually manage OK. My message would be that it’s early days, so don’t panic. All the best.

Hi Lampshade111 ,

I'm one of the page admin and work for PRDA. I just wanted to come on to explain that, as you have recently undergone your treatment, the symptoms you are experiencing would be classed as side-effects (as apposed to late-effects) and are likely to be short-term.

It is important to discuss your symptoms with your oncologist and healthcare team as they will need to monitor your symptoms.

I just wanted to explain the difference as your symptoms will likely improve/resolve. If symptoms continue 6+ months after treatment this is when they would be classed as late effects. There are late effects services across the UK which may be able to help if this is something that affects you.

All the best.
